COLUMBUS, Ohio - Fourth-seeded Ohio State (24-7) men's volleyball will face top-ranked Pepperdine (23-2) in the second semifinal of the NCAA Championship Thursday at UCLA. The match begins at midnight ET and will be carried live by ESPNU. It will be carried by ESPN2 at 1 p.m. ET on May 6. In the first semifinal, No. 2 seed Penn State (30-3) will face No. 3 seed and host UCLA (25-5) at 10 p.m. ET. That match will be carried live by ESPN2 and ESPNU. Thursday's winners will play Saturday at 11 p.m. ET to play for the National Championship. The match will be carried live by ESPN2.
Ohio State of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Pepperdine of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and Penn State of the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association received automatic bids to the Championship by winning their respective conference tournaments Saturday. UCLA, from the MPSF, received the at-large bid to the championship.
Ohio State is appearing in its 14th volleyball championship. The Buckeyes last participated in the Championship in 2001 at Long Beach State, losing 3-1 (30-21, 30-20, 22-30, 30-24) to UCLA in the semifinals.
