I am not sure which group is more annoying at this point, the Long Beach people and their endless whining or the UCLA people and their unnecesary and repeated defense of something that the Long Beach people are whining about.
If I was Beach I would 1) accept that my complaining doesn't change what is now official and stop posting the same thing over and over again 2) show up en masse to the UCLA-Penn St match to root for Penn St
If I was UCLA I would 1) stop responding with obnoxious and elitist attitude to the same stubborn arguments therefore taking the high road 2) be happy with the fact my team is in the final 4 after playing terribly the last few weeks and not feel the need to justify what has already been justified (the commitee following the criteria)
The only valid argument at this point for anyone is that the criteria need be changed. Otherwise, all any of this does is make a great weekend of volleyball even more interesting (I can't wait for the Long Beach people to bitch more if UCLA loses to Penn State or for the UCLA people to be even more pompous if UCLA wins it all) In other words, everyone better pray UCLA loses to Pepp in the final.

I have pretty much read all the posts since the playoffs and have noticed one item that seems to be somewhat missing compared to the comments from the past few years.
Is it time to "investigate?" ;D

I have pretty much read all the posts since the playoffs and have noticed one item that seems to be somewhat missing compared to the comments from the past few years. Is it time to "investigate?" ;D Why? Do Pepperdine or UCLA have any ageless Brazilian players we don't know about? ;D LOL, it's funny... after all those past years where allegations of ineligible professional players being used was bandied about these boards, with all the hatred of UCLA on this board, you'd think by now someone would have tried to levy one of those charges against Al Scates. Quite telling that nobody has even thought about doing so. Of course, when UCLA makes the birthdays and ages and high school records of their players available to the public, it's quite hard to allege that one of the Bruins played in a professional league at some point before coming to UCLA.

Ummmmm...let's see.....Hawaii, Lewis, BYU.........Next! I am wondering who has been flying under the radar that all these vollytalkers have looked past? No alleged video tapes? No copies of contracts? No audio tapes of coaches "farting"? Affidavits of ear witnesses to alleged farting? Copies of ficticious birth certificates? SAT's that were not the correct language? Questionable heritage? Visa receipts for bus tickets to the Pauley paid for by "friends"? Yet all I am reading about here is a bunch of sour grapes over the at-large selection by a committee that did their job the best that they could do in accordance with their written guidelines.
Why not just take off the gloves and break out the tapes?

I wonder if the committee took into consideration that UCLA was hosting the tournament.

Is it time to "investigate?" ;D I think after being slammed a number of times by the NCAA, the men's volleyball community got the message.
