If he goes to UCSB his career will be over because he won't see the court.

i think a guy that had 530 kills could eventually find a place on any team. but i no he wanted to leave findlay because hes a fl beach boy and findly is in the middle of nowhere. 2 of the 4 outside hitters that ucsb used this year were seniors, and wiens is said to be gone to firefight, so im sure he could compete for the job.

Wait... Jake is leaving to become a firefighter NOW?? I know he wants to be a firefighter, but why not at least stay to get his degree from UCSB before leaving for the firefighting school?

Umm a .220 hitting percentage with 530 kills means nothing. Set my grandma that many balls and im sure she could get 530 kills. Considering she has a -1 in. vert it isnt fair, but insert your unathletic grandma there anyway if applies.

Now Now MIVAMIVA....play nice....give the kid a break he hit .245 and was a freshman. Compare his numbers to some of the other outside hitters in the MIVA when they were freshman (i.e. Greaves, Greene, Wauligman, Dziczkowski, Soler) you might find out that hitting .245 might not be great when you end the season with 225 kills.....but the kid had 500+!

Wasn't Dziczkowski 23 when he was a freshman?!? He's like a 26 year old junior.

ya but beachboy, macias is the only person on his team worth setting. when those other guys were fresh, they had many other options on their team. also, they didn't play pathetic teams like the schedule findlay plays outside the miva. take into consideration who his opponents were. and then see who else got set alot on his team. decent player, but not that good.

Edge, I agree but he was second in the MIVA against the same competition that the others played. I guess I would take Macias over many of the other outsides because of his upside of having three more years to learn and improve. Here is a kid that was not being recruited by anybody out of club ball. He proved that he belongs with the big boys. Now with a year under his belt and a few new recruits coming in lets see what happens after another year or two.

Actually Beach...Macias was seen by a lot of coaches at JO's. From what I was told he wanted a large schollie, that Findlay was able to come up with. Anyone notice that Findlay's roster went from like 20 some guys down to 10 this last year. Nothing wrong with that, just an observation.

The decrease in Findlay's roster size had absolutely nothing to do with any recruits or incoming players, just individual players and their own agendas/decisions. I am sure Findlay's roster will not stay at 10 or so for long.
