BEIJING (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Saturday the United States and China can help pull the world out of economic crisis by working together and made clear this took precedence over U.S. concerns about human rights in China. Making her first visit to China as secretary of state, Clinton took a softer line on Chinese political and religious freedoms than in a 1995 Beijing speech in which she openly criticized the Chinese government's human rights record. Speaking at a news conference with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Clinton said the two would have "frank discussions on issues where we have disagreements, including human rights, Tibet, religious freedom and freedom of expression." However, she suggested their joint efforts to spur growth in the face of the global financial crisis, to curb global climate change and to address security challenges like North Korea's nuclear weapons program came first. Again ,since all the liberals and DEMOCRATS went after BUSH and the Olympic committee for awarding CHINA the OLYMPICS..and for BUSH attending those games... Here is how DEMOCRATS now view those same concerns. I told all you young voters under 30 this was the case. Say 1 thing vote or do another. I say "welcome to the real world" and yes ..you better go running down the halls of your high school screaming. The evil Bush was criticized for is China policy of free trade and so possedily no human rights intervention. All By The opposition who now does even less for human rights. Crickets as usual.. It's better to be a dead Democrat than a live Republican... Baaaa?

Again, as in your other post, you present a statement that is not true. In the other post you claim democrats ran as the anti-tax cut party. They did not. They specifically ran pledging tax cuts to the middle class and below. Whether or not that was a wise course is another matter.
Now here you claim "all the liberals and Democrats" were opposed to the China olympics and to Bush attending them. This is also untrue.
This, unless I'm mistaken, is the very definition of a straw man.

R..quit. Stop grasping at definitions to attack someones argument. This by Definition is a losing battle, Long before ANY election cycle Democrats and Liberals constantly reminded everybody about tax cuts for corporations...oil companies..and the upper middle class that create JOBS. TAX CUTS FOR LOWER WAGE EARNERS and the non taxpayers don't create a dang thing except dependency. During the election cycle OBAMA ONLY went to tax cuts when HILLARY started to win. It was ALL ABOUT THE Deficit and run away REPUBLICAN SPENDING. TAX cuts for the working POOR have never worked and will not this time. Getting 60 bucks a month in your check doesn't allow you to hire anybody. Maybe go buy some more booze or drugs.. It certainly wont help when gas prices are influenced by states wanting to increase gas taxes like Calif.. NO job,No car..no need for gas. Then you say ALL were not against China. Your right..98.637% were against. The point was your arguments against BUSH and the evil empire are HOLLOW as the TIN MAN...only instead of missing a HEART .. your missing a BRAIN. Don't worry ..be happy.. I will educate you for FREE...

R..quit. Stop grasping at definitions to attack someones argument. This by Definition is a losing battle, Long before ANY election cycle Democrats and Liberals constantly reminded everybody about tax cuts for corporations...oil companies..and the upper middle class that create JOBS. 1) That's not what you said, 2) there is ZERO proof that those tax cuts create jobs, and 3) those are not the tax cuts you were referring to. Not true, actually. Because lower wage earners are going to SPEND their extra money. Why? Because they have to. Bill: The "working poor" = drunks and addicts. Did you even bother to read your OWN original post? Makes no sense. Moving on... No, "they" weren't. But your made-up statistics just prove my point: whatever argument you are making (and there is one in there to be made) is obscured by your refusal to stick to facts. Way to take the high road. (By the way, the "straw man" has nothing to do with the Scarecrow.) Here's your point: the critics of Bush's China policies need to show some consistency with Clinton. This does not help your point: they weren't just the Democrats and certainly not ALL Democrats, they weren't just the liberals and certainly not ALL liberals, and these critics are NOT all silent now. Thanks for playing. Come back when you want your ass kicked again.

Sorry, Bob. You don't get to change the rules:
1) This article says Obama urged Bush to boycott the OPENING CEREMONY, not what Bill said at all.
2) Obama does not equal ALL liberals or ALL Dems.
3) I brought the tax issue into this thread because I was pointing out Bill's tendency to erect straw men when posting.
Here it is, since you missed it the first time:

Nah you brought up taxes because you didn't have any worthwhile response to the China human rights issue.

Nah you brought up taxes because you didn't have any worthwhile response to the China human rights issue. What responses do you suggest which the Bush administration failed to implement? I'm sure Obama, and all people of the world concerned about human rights, wait with baited breath for your wisdom on this topic.

R..you loser.. OBAMA = liberal+ Democrat. Many liberal blogs that YOU speak and use ..the press all went after BUSH for attending.
Human rights before the Games was TOPIC 1.
I love your line about tax cuts for the poor..
QUOTE by R.. Not true, actually. Because lower wage earners are going to SPEND their extra money. Why? Because they have to.
There goes your saving plan and personal responsibility. Yep, they'll have to spend on increasing GAS prices..FOOD prices and other stuff created by run away inflation.
THAT"S INFLATION ...for all you knuckleheads out there.
That is when BAD tax policy drives prices up faster than wages. That is when we PRINT MONEY that we cannot back.
Stick to the facts? The stock market is down 40 % since OBAMA WON. Over 15% this year.
and since Democrats took over congress this economy has tanked...
FACT.
and from BTO... "you ain't seen nothin' yet."

It's amazing. I can absolutely eviscerate Bill's argument and all he does is stuff himself full of new nonsense.
It's exhausting.

Hey Bill, are you criticizing the Bush Administration's efforts on Human Rights in China, and saying Obama and Clinton aren't doing much better? Yeah, good for you. Please tell us what actions you personally want Obama and Clinton to take against China on Human Rights that you think Bush mistakenly failed to perform? Thanks in advance for your kind contribution towards the worthy goal of Global Human Rights.

Hey nut collector.. Yep Bush wasn't THE BEST on China. Better than this ... When our markets are tanking..we are losing jobs to all those over sea places..HINT CHINA IS OVER SEAS ..AND THE UNEMPLOYMENT AND TRADE DEFICIT ARE EXPANDING.. there IS OL Hillary SAYING .. please BUY OUR DEBT ... let US (DEMOCRATS) CONTINUE TO FLOAT OUR DEBT AGAINST OUR TERRIBLE WELFARE AND TAX POLICIES. I am someone who just recently looked at the "off-the-net" threads. I am starting to think that goGopherBill and (R)uffda are the same person playing some kind of twisted, perverse joke on anybody that wades through these threads.
You guys are so far to the extreme in polar opposite directions that you will never persuade the other about anything. I don't know how long you have been going back and forth, but surely you understand the futility of the endeavor.
