No, it would be this: 1 EIVA 1 MIVA 1 MPSF 5 at-large bids It would just so happen that the 5 at-large bids all happen to go to MPSF schools almost every year (occasionally, another EIVA or MIVA could sneak in there). And then, the EIVA and MIVA teams would lose in the first round, as you previously stated.

Of course, knowing the way LBSU performs in the post-season, they'll probably be the #9 looking in when they institute the 8-team format, which will subject us to even MORE WHINING. Can't win for losing, I tell ya. Yea you are totally right, LBSU performs so poorly in the postseason... i mean they only made it to the mpsf finals this year didn't they? idiot. If we're the forty whiners then i guess ur the ucla biiiiatches

Yeah I thought it was funny how people assume that if your not for their team, then you're for their current rival.

Ruff...go back to your girly section of the site. Its that sort of attitude that keeps mens volleyball from expanding. The very sad truth is most men associated with mens vb have a hard time watching women's COLLEGIATE vb because it is slow and uneventful. I enjoy vb at any level...but having to choose to watch one level or the other for EXCITEMENT, I choose Men's. For hotness...women. No...instead of being negative, help us promote and find better solutions. Ah yes, they may be slow, but they look good in spandex too! Benefits, my friend, benefits of dealing with the "slower" match.

The deal would be this... 1 EIVA 1 MIVA 6 MPSF The EIVA and MIVA teams would lose in the first round. Hence we'd have a 4 team all-mpsf final four, the way God intended. Didn't I post something like this today? I am losing my mind.

Eight team NCAA championship bracket should look like something similar to this.
Three conference league championship teams. Three conference tournament championship teams ( league champions do not play in conference tournament) Two at-large teams (with adjustment of current criteria) Wednesday: Quarterfinal matches Friday: Semifinal matches Sunday: Championship match

I think that first the sport needs to expand a little more, but I would still rather see more teams in from the MPSF. With the current system you always have at least two teams out there that could win it all (I thought that Pepperdine could have beaten BYU last year).
I do know that Arizona and Arizona State are under pressure to add Men's programs because of the fact that there are now 50 high schools that offer the sport there, and it has been sanctioned by the Arizona Interscholastic Association for over a decade now (meaning they hold officail state championships). There are many players that don't get recruited like they should because of the fact that they don't have volleyball at the University level there. Once they get programs I think others will follow, and then they will expand for sure.

I think that's a very good point Huntz. I remember playing a couple teams from Nevada and one of them could have had at least 3 players play Division I. They were extremely good. It was a mostly African American team and 2 of their hitters jumped out of the roof and could hit like no one's business. I think if Az and Az State added DI teams it would absolutely HUGE.

I do wish that schools would recruit other states more often. What you said about those guys from Nevada is right on. I know that in Arizona Tyler Hidebrand wasn't the best setter his junior or senior year, but the other guys didn't have the publicity.
Any word on how close Cal is to getting a Men's program in place?
