The University of Findlay Men's Volleyball Program has been cut effective immediately.
A shame for what looked like a bright future for a young program.
I'll have more details shortly.

As a member of the team I am very shocked and VERY upset by this announcement. I want to officially start a petition right now to send to my school to reverse this decision immidiately. This is unbelievable and I did not see this coming. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions to help us out, it would be greatly appreciated!!! I will fight this to the bitter end.... Thanks for your support!

Nothing on the Athletic Dept website yet for Findlay. But it does say.... Findlay is the only school in the conference to participate in all 21 GLIAC sponsored sports.
The list of sports is long....and perhaps too ambitious for Findlay.
However, there are certainly IMHO other sports that I would cut first before mvball.
Anyone know if other sports either m/w also got cut?
AD Steven Rackley rackley@findlay.edu
AND, player DutchFury....what did they tell you and when?

I will keep details private for now until I find out more. I was simply informed that the program was cut, that is all I know right now. I am currently looking in to contacting the right people when I have an opportunity, thanks.

My source told me that nothing will be posted or "officially" announced until Monday. They told me that to their knowledge no other sports got cut. More details to come......."some people" around UF are still fighting for it.

That is a real shame. They were making progress in the MIVA. They had a couple of great wins this season. Another few years and they could potentially be a top team. A couple of good wins this season means stronger recruits coming in and an overall better program.
I doubt any petition will work to get the program back up and running. I would love to see Findlay keep their team but it didn't work for UCSD and LMU when the AD made the decision to cut their programs.

San Diego State cut their program, not UCSD (so far anyway).

A source says possible internal [glow=red,2,300]sabotage[/glow], stating [glow=red,2,300]"certain figures of leadership in the organization might have pushed for the disbandment of the program."[/glow] No names were disclosed. The decision is in fact being fought by certain individuals. Details to come...

Appropriately phrased emails to the AD could be of a help here. If there are inside politics going on, finding out how widespread the support is.... across the US in the vball community, could be a surprise to the Findlay AD and VIPS.
email AD Steven Rackley rackley@findlay.edu
A lot of folks rallied round for Ball state and GMU in the past. And for CSUN.....
let's get on it folks.

Thank you for your support, we greatly appreciate it!!! Although e-mails to the President Freed and the AD Rackley have gone unanswered that I have sent, I know that they can make an impact. As for any of the internal sabotage and other things, I don't think I need to comment about it right now........

athletics.findlay.edu/sports.aspUPDATE: Despite efforts by certain MIVA teams and support from the volleyball community, the Men's Team at Findlay has been discontinued. My past post mentioned sabotage from the inside. I followed up on that...and I am going to begin by saying the information is accusatory and shocking, but is the apparent truth. My source told me that the coach at Findlay pushed for the cut himself. This, to me, does look like internal sabotage, as a coach did away with his own team. Further looks showed he also coaches the Women's team at Findlay, and I was also told there is a new club team in the Findlay area also run by the same guy. Is this a matter of a coach giving up? Could a program on the up have been killed before its time? If anyone has heard anything else about this, please share it, as this is a truly interesting situation. The article above mentioned Title 9 and Funding not being the only reasons, which is consistent with my information.....still more to come.....

Why would someone want to do away with their own volleyball program? If the coach's three obligations were too much to handle, then he should have just resigned and allowed someone else to take over the program. Not take the whole thing down. Where are all of the players going to go now?

With this such a fast development, and we were not told about it until the decision was already handed down, we are left a little shocked and betrayed. For now I think we are just going to take a little time and figure out what to do next. We thank the volleyball community for supporting us, it is my understanding a lot of support was rallied for us. I guess there isn't much us, the players, can do when someone above us has decided they don't want to carry on with our program...

This is truly a shocking and disappointing announcement! I know Wick and certainly hope the accusations aren't true! As I mentioned before, gentlemen who'd like some assistance in exploring their options can contact me at simplycurious@fastmail.fm, I'll do what I can.
