Good pick up, new blood in coaching for the warriors...so we got two former collegiate setters as assistant coaches in fisher and kuo, is there room to add another assistant coach, preferbly someone experienced in the middle position? Looks like tino reyes won't be back, 1000 mahalos for all the years you've given to the University of Hawaii Tino.

hmmm any ideas on what or where he's (Tino) going to do? Stephen Tsai said that he was a candidate for the women's head coaching job at Boise St. May still be seeing him at the SSC once a year if it happens.

It looks like UH might get a 6' 9 middle from Europe as well. In the 2007 FIVB Boys' Youth World Championships Jonas Umlauft was the 7th leading scorer. Murphy Troy ranked 21st. The Serbian middle decided to go to Pacific instead. Bad news for the Warriors, GREAT news for the Tigers. Coach Wade is getting alot of interest from some of the top recruits in the 2010 class though, including the top outside hitter in the country Taylor Sander who touches over 11' 5 and can pass nails.

What's the latest on Metzger? He didn't play at JO's.

Metzger is still out with that concussion he suffered. Should be ready to go for fall training though.

Glad to hear Pacific got the Serbian player. If they get an opposite they will win some games next year - they had a red-shirt outside who can play. Clearly still in the bottom 3rd, but so was UCSD a few years ago. Would be nice to have this team, Hawaii and UCSB upgrade a little.

Wow, I wonder if Hawaii has ever gotten "the top recruit" for Men's volleyball, or a player even ranked in the top 10? Who was Hawaii's last top 10 recruit? Was Delano Thomas ranked in the top 10?

I don't know where you find the list of the Top Ten Recruits, but Hawaii has had their share to top recruits over the years. I know Fab 50 is overated, especially in the Boys Division . . . . should be more like Fab 25.
Former Fab 50/JO All Americans/Youth & Junior National Players include.
Delano Thomas: Fab 50, Youth & Junior National Team Tony Ching: Fab 50, Junior National Team Kimo Tuyay: Fab 50, JO All American, Youth & Junior National Team Brian Beckwith: Fab 50, Youth and Junior National Team Jake Schud: Fab 50, Youth and Junior National Team
But in the past 3-4 years Wilton did not bring in much talent. As a result 2 losing seasons in a row.
Just remember the winning combination at Hawaii is: 1. 2-3 Euros: One in the middle and two OH. (2 full scholarships) 2. Setter from So. California. (1/2 scholarship) 3. One or two Local Talent who you can develop. (1/2 Scholarship) 4. One outstanding recruit from the Mainland. (one full scholarship) 5. Sleepers, walk ons & transfers (1/2 scholarship)
Spend your 4.5 scholarship wisely. Be creative with financial aids.
There Rest Is UP2U
