As long as carrying such a weapon is considered a protected expression of 2nd amendment rights, I don't see the problem. He didn't take his rifle into a regulated area like a bank, school, or an auditorium where the President was physically present, so this is no different than if he had carried it to a meeting of Korean War vets or the Black Panthers.

Some of the press is all excited about this, but the Secret Service doesn't seem to care. I'm sure they are more worried about the people hiding in book depositories than those walking around openly. They have a security perimeter, and people outside that are only of marginal interest.

I dunno why you're whining about it here on VT. If you had any balls you woulda just walked up to the dude himself as he was standing out there and called him an idiot to his face.

Who's complaining? I think it just looks silly. I wasn't within 1000 miles of the guy but if I were I wouldn't have any problem calling him a idiot. I think his weopon looks way to cumbersome to take to a fun filled event like this. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

It's a good thing that he wasn't also wearing a shirt that had Obama's name with a line through it...he might have been escorted off the premises by the police or arrested for not complying....it's good that we have our logic working.
