Peter Jackson is totally blowing it. Not gonna be released until next year, AND it will only be the theatrical versions of all 3 movies.
Lame.
I watched it in HDTV today it was on TBS, I think.

Who is going to direct The Hobbit? Is that his? Or was the lawsuit to get him out of it?
Looked it up. I had forgotten: Guillermo del Toro. That should be interesting.

You know, I was actually bored with the LOTR trilogy.

Read the theatrical releases were going to go blu-ray in November. The extended is still un-announced.
Rumour back when the extended were release was that Peter Jackson was going to release more footage of each film at a later date. What better time than now to release the extended extended version of LOTR.

He's just pulling a Lucas.
Release the film. Release the extended version of the film. Release the collectors' edition of all films, along with a collectible. Release the blu-ray version of the film. Release the extended version of the blu-ray version of the film. Release the collectors' edition of all films in blu-ray, along with a collectible. Release the blu-ray version of the extended directors-cut version of the film ...

www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/The hobbit will be release in 2- parts....SMART move. lots of material. Screen Play - Peter Jackson....which is very good. Directed by Gullermo Del Toro......hope Jackson gives him some space on this one. Looking foward to it. Is Blue Ray Really that much better than HDTV?

Lucas only added on 5 minutes combined for the original trilogy...Jackson added over 30 minutes in Return of the King alone...possibly in the 40's. If Jackson says he'll release a slightly longer extended version...I'd buy it.

You guys think the Frodo/Sam love scene will make it into any of the extended versions?

But the big difference between Lucas and Jackson is that Jackson deliver substance. Yup. Peter doesn't know how to milk the cash cow quite as well as George.
