Lewis blows a lead in game 5 and loses on a questionable net call. The ball looked like it was down far before the net moved. USC played decent volleyball with the Brazilian freshman playing outside hitter (Grangero?). Lewis blasted some balls and exploited USC's block (or lack there of) and made the game exciting. Hopefully Lewis can bounce back from this monumental loss. USC...I hope you can just win one more match so you can say you are better than you were in last year's pitiful season. The only way that you guys will get past the 4 wins plateau will be if UCSD has an off night.

For anyone that had questions whether or not the MIVA can compete with the MPSF, we were all shown that they cannot. The #4 team in the country did not even take care of the WORST Div. 1 team in the MPSF. (UCSD is Div II) Way to go guys...good look on this West Coast Road Trip...

Ooooops...Hey Gang, we were ALL wrong. There wasn't a single prediction that USC would beat Lewis. My sincere apologies for doubting USC (the Rodney Dangerfield MPSF Team)...you deserve a little more respect now that you beat Lewis. Way to go guys! Lewis might have a LONG road trip here...I wonder what happened to them? And I don't think a questionable call is an excuse...they were ranked pretty high in the nation, and Lewis should have kicked butt. Any unbiased fan care to comment?

In my unbiased opinion, The MPSF might be too much for MIVA and EIVA, Or maybe USC just had a good night and Lewis didn't. Whatever the case I already have one loss on my prediction sheet, but so does most everybody else .

This is a much needed win for the MEN of TROY. Congrats to those guys. They work hard day in day out and it finally paid off (a little). It is a Great school with a lot of tradition of producing excelent players. Turhan, if your listening, we all support you 100%. Keep up the good work and get some more wins buddy.
P.S. Looking at the stats from the match, SC' played a phenomonal match hitting wise and serving wise. They just simply out played Lewis. Does anyone know if the match was played in North Gym or the Lyon Center. North Gym could have intimidated Lewis a little with the low ceiling and close bleachers with screaming frat. boys.

Alright, I've got to see this team play in person. Next home match perhaps?

Rollshot, you'll be underwhelmed. When are they going to move out of that dump called the North Gym? It must have been built around 1910.

Guys
It looks like I'm in for a long wek with all my backing of the MIVA boys...OUCH! Here is my honest opinion...Lewis played horrible and USC had a good night. I wonder why Victor Bird didn't play? I know he and Soler rotate, but usually Bird sees the floor in big mathes. Anyway...I still think Lewis will be OK on the trip. If McKinnie plays UCLA will probably beat them. I am not sure Matt is the real deal, but I do notice a substantial spike in good play for UCLA when he is in. Ditto Stanford and Topple. If they both go then Lewis will be lucky to win 1 match on the trip. I wouldn't count them out just yet.
I have heard from many sources that this is the best year in the MPSF, some say it's never been deeper. Should they keep it up and roll Lewis, Loyola, and Penn State this trip, then I will have to agree with the assessments!!!

The MPSF is insane this year. I think part of that is there are so few teams, every team has quite a few excellent players. Most players want to play out West - even players from the east coast and mid-west - just because of that competition. Better competition makes you better.
LB plays Penn State and Ball State over St. Patrick's Day weekend. It will be interesting to see what they've got.

Hey Rollshot, if you want to see Lewis in action, they are one of the teams participating in the Stanford Invitational this weekend at Burnham Pavilion.
USC plays Stanford on 3/28.
