Do you think UCLA will make it in over UOP? I don't know. I guess I had better look at their schedules and see who they still have to play before I start guessing who won't make it.

Yes I do! I feel that Pacific after getting throttled last night is facing 3 losses in row 2 at Hawaii and the next vs Pepp. Pacific also has a tough road schedule. I believe that UOP will be 8-8 before you know it!

UOP is 8-5 in MPSF play - this is their remaining schedule: Hawai'i Hawai'i PEPPERDINE USC Long Beach State UC San Diego STANFORD UC Irvine UCLA
Should lose to Hawaii, Pepp, and Long Beach :-) (in the Pyramid). I don't know how they match up with anyone else.
UCLA is 7-7
UC Irvine Hawaii Hawaii CS Northridge USC Pepperdine Stanford Pacific
The way I see it - UCLA has five, very tough matches at least - they have at least the same losses to Hawaii and Pepperdine in their future and you could probably add CSUN, UCI and/or UOP or Stanford to that list.
Long Beach is 8-6 in MPSF play - this is their remaining MPSF schedule: Pepperdine USC BYU BYU PACIFIC STANFORD CS NORTHRIDGE UCSB
Possible losses at Pepp and BYU - CSUN beat them pretty badly recently, but we'll see how it plays out in the Pyramid.
Stanford - 8-7
USC Pepperdine Long Beach St Uc San Diego Pacific UCLA Uc Irvine
None of these teams are out of the woods yet.

None of these teams have solidified a place in the tournament. At this point, no team has even clinched their spot. Hawaii, while it disappoints me that they are number 6 in the conference right now, played all the top teams. They have the easiest schedule for the rest of the season. They will only play UCLA, Pacific, UCSD, UCSB, and USC. All the other teams will have to play each of the California schools one more time. BYU has the toughest schedule, with Pepperdine, UCI, Northridge, and Long Beach.

The top two teams are Pepperdine and BYU - that isn't likely to change drastically - the bottom three are UCSD, USC, and UCSB.
The remaining seven teams are fighting for the 3-8 seeds and one of them won't make it at all. My hunch is it will be UCLA who stays home.

Strickly a guess here, but this is how I predict the finish. 1 Pepp 19-3 2 BYU 16-6 3 Hawaii 15-7 4-t Irvine 13-9 (UCI will get the higher seed 'cause of 3-0 win) 4-t Long Beach 13-9 6 UCLA 12-10 7-t Stanford 11-11 (Stanford will win 3-0) 7-t Northridge 11-11
OUT---Pacific 10-12 UCSB 5-17 USC 2-20 UCSD 1-21 Lots of play left....

Hi bangdown, So how come you didn't predict weekly matches? Seems as though you are pretty knowledgeable, and I found your season-end predictions very interesting. I've checked the remaining schedules for each team and see it this way: (1) Pepperdine 21-2 (2) Brigham Young 21-4 (3) Hawaii 19-5 (4) Pacific 16-8 (5) CS-Northridge 15-8 (6) UC - Irvine 13-9 (7 tie) Long Beach 12 - 12 (7 tie) Stanford 12 - 12 (8) UCLA 9 - 15 (9) UC-Santa Barbara 7 - 17 (10) USC 4 - 19 (11) UC-San Diego 1 - 23 After looking at your records, please check the number of games left...I think you left out a few. It may change your standings a bit. Later Dude.

After looking at your records, please check the number of games left...I think you left out a few. It may change your standings a bit. Later Dude. Hey VBCrusin you are not talking apples to apples. Everyone is talking only about the MPSF conference matches to rank within the MPSF. Bangdown is correct for MPSF consist of 12 teams and each team must play 11 other conference teams twice each, totaling 22 games. (add # win to # loss) By the way my novice predictions are: 1-Pepperdine 21-1 2-UH 17-5 3-BYU 16-6 4-LBS 13-9 5-Northridge 13-9 6-UCI 12-10 7-Stanford 12-10 8-UCLA 10-12 9-Pacific 10-12 10-UCSB 5-17 11-USC 3-19 12-UCSD 0-22 We'll see how it turns out at the end.

Weekly predictions are hard enough. This is quite a task. Here we go anyway ;D.
1) Pepperdine 19-3 2) BYU 16-6 3) Hawaii 16-6 4) LBSU 15-7 or 14-8 5) UOP 13-9 6) CSUN 13-9 7) Stanford 13-9 8) UCI 10-11 This is probably completely unrealistic.

Judging by everyone's predictions, I guess UH will have to knock off BYU in the conference tournament. I am not so sure. When looking at the schedules, I think Hawaii has a pretty good chance to eke out a second place finish, as long as they can avoid losing.
With BYU, I think they will be lucky to escape with another two losses, and could easily get swept by any of those three teams. I have a feeling it could be deja vu of last year, and BYU could get left out of the postseason party.

Thanks Spike and to VBCruisin'...I might consider getting in on the predictions....as most of you do, I have to get work done while trying to enjoy talkin' volley...Too bad I can't do this for a living!
Looking at all of the prdicted finishes has raised some real differences I still feel UOP is going to be the one outside looking in!
I'm shocked at a couple things from last night: Lewis over UCLA...UCI might be getting UCLA at the right time again) USC over the ridge! Brazilian libero must be doing a great job on the outside..haven't seen the boxscore yet)
As for UCI beating UCSD...UCSD is a very good team that just hasn't been able to get over the hump and finish games....last night they had a couple opportunities but UCI's blocking came up big! Finished the first and second games on stuffs.

Thanks Spike for the heads up concerning bangdown's the rest of the MPSF season predictions (I counted all the non-MPSF matches as well). My apologies, bangdown (and YES...please predict the weekly matches...they're fun). ;D My MPSF final season predictions: (1) Pepperdine 20-2 (2) Brigham Young 18-4 (3) Hawaii 17-5 (4) Northridge 14-8 (5) Stanford 12-10 (6 Tie) UC-Irvine 11-11 (6 Tie) Pacific 11-11 (7) Long Beach 10-12 (8) UCLA 8-14 (9) UC-Santa Barbara 5-17 (10) USC 3-19 (11) UC-San Diego 0-22 I agree with you on the bottom 3 (USC,UCSB,UCSD), but I feel that UCLA will be out of the tournament. It has been an exciting (and at times unpredictable) season. I enjoy watching the matches, BUT I really enjoy everyone's comments, bantering and predictions on this site. It makes for a better understanding of ALL the teams, especially in the various analytic posts of the many knowledgeable fans. Everyone has their favorite teams, but it's nice to appreciate every volleyball team, in general...that's a mark of a great volleyball fan. As far as I'm concerned, I'll be wearing my Pepperdine shirt together with my California/Hawaiian shirt, and BYU hat. Has anyone noticed that there aren't the negative posts this year than last year? It's probably because of the many fan posts analyzing every team's play and not getting defensive on their own team's losses. It makes for good communication. I think next year, I'll start rooting for UC-San Diego. They are a scrappy & gutsy team who should be playing in lesser Division, but my hat is off to them because of their tenancity in wanting to play the BEST...win or lose, they are WINNERS in my estimation. GO UCSD.

The most important thing here and it really has not been brought up is with the seeding comes possible travel. If you're any one of these teams; LBSU, UCI, Stanford, CSUN, UCLA, Pacific, or Hawaii....you do not want to be in the 6th thru 8th slots. Here's what you're lookin' at 8th seed....you don't want to see Pepp in the 1st round 7th seed....who wants to play at BYU...brutal! 6th seed....your probably lookin' to go to Hawaii...that would be tough 5th seed....your most likely going to have amore friendly atmosphere but your facing Pepp (if you win) in the semis The teams that have travelled to either BYU or Hawaii this year....I would suspect that this is the year you wouldn't mind playing at the gym in the 1st round of MPSF......'cause we all know that the finals of MPSF are going to take place in Malibu, a place where UCI is the only team to beat Pepp.

Even the 4th seed will have it rough having to play Pepp if they win the first round. Not good! 2nd, 3rd, or 7th seed would be the best option (aside from 1st of course).
