I was reading another rather confusing post about this and decided to start a new thread. Can people in their 20s join the Hawaii mvb booster club? from what I've seen, there's nobody under the age of 55 in the club.

There isn't really any age requirement in being a Hawaii Booster member. I know people in the age range of 19- and up. All one is required is paying a fee and do fund raising and in return they receive UH sports privileges. The members you see in their 50s and up sitting on the end side of the court are diehard fans and been fans for many years, but, like I mentioned above, there are much younger Booster members as well. I would like to add though, that there are more Booster members above the age of 30 since most of the time, the younger ones don't want to do fund raisings or/and pay the annual fees.

Actually, you're not pressured to do any fund-raising.
You receive newsletters and flyers for things like the golf tournament and banquet and are asked if you'd like to sponser one of the players. (Or donate prizes for the tournament.) When you sign up to be a booster you are asked if you'd like to volunteer to help host a visiting team, feed the guys after a match that isn't followed by a potluck, or help with the banquet.
I've never felt pressured to do any fund raising but we really could use an infusion of "young blood". The long-time supporters are great and would welcome you. After all, more boosters makes things easier for the players and coaches and they are great about showing their appreciation.
Last year we had the opportunity to buy a ring just like the championship ring the guys got. And when you sponser a player you get cool stuff like fanny packs, t-shirts, tote bags, etc. Then there are the annual "Practice and Pizza Party" which the coaches host. Or the tailgate party for one of the football games. And the chalk-talk before the games.
Joining is only $50 per person; $75 if you want your season tickets to be in the booster section. It's totally worth it. Do it! You won't regret it.
