It's good you are here to straighten all of us wayward souls out , beast .Don't you get it , all of us here have nothing better to do with our extra time , but to bitch and moan about things we absolutely have no control over . If we did we would get coaching jobs and maybe really make a difference . It cracks me up when someone like you thinks you have all the answers ! Sometimes I'm the one that thinks that way and that is the only control we have !!!

I am wondering how many years a newbee coach gets before he is axed. One is not enough and 5 is too many. I think that three at the most is enough to turn a program around. Having an existing great program would not be in Lewis coach favor. I could see where people would call for his head after a lose to mighty Carthage. Change is good. Much like following Bobby Knight at Indiana, the Lewis coach has no chance at sticking.

That's too bad , if that is true he is essentially working with walk-ons . And we all know where the UCLA walk-ons are ( BEHIND THE BLUE CURTAIN ) LOL , LOL , LOL

They are getting better. They are still a middle-of-the pack MPSF team but they are getting some big time recruits in the past couple years.. This years recruiting class is pretty nice also. It will take a little more time but I think USC will be up there soon!

Turhan has been doing better with the recruiting. UCS will be back up there. SIX years...? Who knows. It's volleyball. It takes some coaches, since most don't have a national name outside of the greats or longstanding coaches, a long time to get that reputaion. It helps with recruiting the kids you need for a better program. No scholarships to offer either. The Lewis coach, Dan Friend, is goign to have a problem. The Bobby Knight comparison is the best one I've heard on the situation. And Pepp, I am a college coach, granted it's at a D3 school, but I am a coach (some of us get on here to kill time when we aren't talking to recruits, coaching at meetins with AD's or working at our regular jobs). Some of us do try to change the system. As usual though the "old boy network" still rules in some cases. Change takes time and in collegiate vball it takes a long time when people don't want it. UNFORTUNATELY. Blue Curtain, good point on that too. Does anyone know what really happens to walk-ons at UCLA if they don't ever see the court?

It takes time to fix a program, it just doesn't happen over night, you gotta give Friend a chance. I still think that the program is a household vball name and he will get recruits and the team will be rebuilt. What else would you expect......it's a bunch of freshmen who haven't played together they need time to adjust to one another and play as a team. Have some faith.
