Can the student sweep the teacher and his alma matre tonight in his first season at UCI as their head coach? It should be quite a battle. I don't see Scater leaving tonight with a loss... We'll see

I have been thinking this all season after the first "upset" but I'll try it again. Scates is great at minimizing his team's weaknesses while maximizing their strengths. Year in and year out I expect UCLA to falter but they somehow do well. I think Scates will adjust and at the very least make it go the distance if not pull it out. Then again, he usually has a healthy team with some options, and that is just not the case this year. We will see, but I think Scates will pull out at least one this year from Speraw. They are UCLA, after all. You don't get recruits like Pat Nihipali without being a good coach.

We'll see Not if UCI plays like they did at Long Beach. The Bruins continue to have injury problems. What a snake bit year for them. Who will set for them tonight? Nelson, Gonzales, Sepulveda if he's still on the team? Just too many issues to make a prediction. It will be a battle. UCLA needs the win to keep up. I guess UCI needs it too.

You bring up a great point about UCLA's setting situation....Nelson or Gonzalez (Sepulveda quit from what I heard) and what about the opposite position?...Prailer or Weinger (not sure they are spelled correctly) I'm also curious to see who they will use on the outside....Kraushaar or Garrett
My guess is that they will start Dennis Gonzalez but have him on a short leash....they will also use Weinger at opp. and use Gray Garrett on the outside as he careered vs UCI last time out....Bemus will answer for UCI tonight and look for Pelzel to have a monster match! UCI over UCLA 3-2 (15-12- 5th game)
