I know that UCI is good, but they are showing that they can make it to the final four.
I wonder when the UCI BYU game is. That should be a great game.

Congrats to UCI...not many people were sure how strong they really were but they really showed it last night with a sweep of UCLA in Pauley Pavilion. Could we see UCI in the final four?

I think so.
They are playing that well. I wonder though if their lack of experience in the playoffs will be a problem. The expectations are high, and everyone starts with the same record.
At this point I have to give the edge to Pepperdine and BYU making the final four. Both Hawaii and UCI could also make a showing at the final four.

UCLA could be one of the worse programs out there (right up there with ucsd and stanford)......Al you need to retire and go to aa meetings. Its not the 70's-80's anymore

Its not the 70's-80's anymore This is one of the most idiotic posts I've seen on this board. UCLA's record is nowhere near their standards, but to lump them in with UCSD, who win at most 1-2 MPSF matches / year and Stanford who misses the playoffs most years is ludicrous. If you have actually seen UCLA play, you've seen that the individual athletes on their team are very talented and they are deep. Unlike many UCLA teams in the past, this team seems to make critical errors at the wrong time and very much lacks chemistry. Example: in game one against UCI on Friday, they were up 29-28 in game one, but found a way to lose the next 3 points, the game and eventually, the match. To my untrained eye, UCLA players look like they don't much like each other. I can't say exactly how that translates into their poor showing so far, but they are one of the only teams to beat BYU this year, so they are capable.

So what you are saying is that the players for f-ucla have no balls??? And beating BYU means....? Even a blind squirl finds a nut sometimes. Mike Sealy is very smart, leaving that snowballing program, I hear the other asst. caoch Brian is leaving too. Al turn in your boots......your boys are jumpin ship. When does F-ucla play Stanford and UCSD? Should be a five game thriller

With the exception of Stanford, UCLA is the best academic institution in MPSF. They have a great shot at recruiting virtually anyone they want. And what player would not choose to play there? I think they are down this year in part because the 2 top recruits in High School from 3 years ago would be seniors now and they're both out of the program. I'm talking about Pat Nihipali (I understand there were academic problems) and Matt McKinney (not playing due to chronic injury).
These guys should be the big guns on UCLA this year and neither is playing. UCLA / Scates has won 19 championships, produced more professional players and been more successful than any program in men's volleyball ever. Nobody else is close. If Scates was genius, has he gotten stupid? Everyone loves to beat UCLA because of this history. They will be back. In fact, I would not be surprised to see them win at least a first round match in the MPSF playoffs this year.
By the way, I have no connection to UCLA. I just know a great program when I see it.

Well, I am a UCLA fan, and I will tell you: They are Guaranteed to make the playoffs, and the team they play is going to be irritated that the were paired with UCLA. It won't matter what team they are playing. No one wants to play UCLA first round!

Well, I am a UCLA fan, and I will tell you: They are Guaranteed to make the playoffs, ... Are you suggesting that even if UCLA loses the rest of their matches, they will still qualify for the playoffs?
