so looking at the box score... In game 5, Pacific was up 8-6 at the switch before giving up 9 straight points to lose the match. Anybody know of another time in the rally era where a team has given up so many points in a row in game 5?

IPFW is a good team. CJ Macias is great this year!

IPFW played ok. Pacific played worse. Pacific just didn't execute very well. I didn't go to the Fri match but was there for the Sat. Match. One thing that I knew right away was not going to be good for Pacific was that the Tigers are not a very tough serving team. The one area where you can really put pressure on IPFW is to serve even just a little toug and IPFW gets real mediocre with below average passing. (I guess the same could be said about ANY team) Couldn't really blame Wortman about the game plan. His players just didn't carry it out. You could hear him about where to serve, where to hit, etc and his players just didn't do it.
Nonetheless, it was a slightly boring match in my eyes. Both team were pretty ragged. There were a couple of calls and non-calls that went against Pacific that I think put them on tilt a little bit. The officials otherwise were invisible. (which I like) One obnoxious Pacific fan got tossed out of the match for some reason. He did flip the crowd off when leaving when they started cheering that he was getting the boot. Not sure what was going on there since I didn't see or hear anything that would have justified him getting the boot.
One thing that I think may come back to bite IPFW in the ass is, Morici is a little grating. He jumps all over his teammates for making simple mistakes but no one jumps on him for the same. He acts like his crap doesn't stink and if I were a teammate, I'd probably want to punch him in the head. I appreciate competitiveness and fire but there is a fine line between that and just being annoying. He is heading towards annoying and I don't think IPFW is the kind of team that can play well if they don't like each other. Enough of that.
Rest of the MIVA need to watch out for IPFW. If they keep this up, they are final four bound.

I was there both Friday and Saturday and IPFW played much, much better on Friday. On Saturday, I thought they came out a little flat and lacked the intensity and emotion that they had the night before. Pacific definitely played a whole lot better on Saturday night. They basically fell apart in that fifth game. Their coach took two time-outs during that 9-0 run but couldn't get through to them.
I believe the fan got tossed because he was intoxicated.
Didn't see what you're saying about Mike but then you have a better view of that than I do. I think this is a close knit team that deals with "stuff." If not, Mike may end up even shorter than he is! ;D

I guess one of the older guys has to step in and bring Morici back down to earth. Farha, get on that!!

Well to me a libero has a couple of jobs to do. Passing is primary and play defense is co-primary. I can cut OH and the OPP some slack as not being perfect all the time but a libero needs to be a little more perfect (if there is such a thing) and a lot more consistent before he starts jumping on others about the same stuff. Remove the plank out of your eye before..... well you know the rest.
