John Albertson, a 6-6 freshman middle blocker for 11th-ranked The Ohio State University (14-4, 2-2 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association), has been chosen the MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division Player of the Week and the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. He paced the Buckeyes to wins over two nationally ranked NCAA Division III schools in top-ranked Juniata and fifth-ranked Carthage. Albertson hit .714 for the two matches with averages of 4.31 points, 3.50 kills, 1.50 blocks and 0.62 digs per game. He tallied a double-double of 17 kills and 11 blocks along with a career-high 23 points to help Ohio State rally from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Juniata on March 3. Albertson hit .727 against the Eagles on 22 swings. The rest of the Buckeyes managed a mere .138 attack percentage. He charted 11 kills with a .692 attack percentage in a sweep of Carthage on March 5. Albertson increased his season averages to 3.09 points, 2.36 kills, 1.30 blocks and 0.30 digs per game with a .398 attack percentage.

Tyler Galstad, a 6-6, senior, opposite/setter for fifth-ranked (Division III) Clarke College has been chosen the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Coleman Division Player of the Week for his play last week in helping the Crusaders to three wins in four matches last week. Clarke won 3-0 (30-23, 30-28, 30-18) at Medaille, 3-0 (30-14, 30-17, 30-16) at Hilbert, a 3-2 loss at D'Youville (30-25, 24-30, 17-30, 36-34, 15-8) and a 3-1 (22-30, 30-24, 30-24, 30-24) win at Mercyhurst. Galstad had a team-high 11 kills while hitting .500 at Medaille, adding four digs and two assist blocks. He had a team-high eight kills (.462), eight assists, two ace serves, three digs and an assist block at Hilbert. Galstad had five kills (.120), 13 digs and three block assists in the loss to D'Youville. He recorded a team-high 15 kills (.394), four digs, a solo block, an assist block and an assist at Mercyhurst. For the week, Galstad averaged 3.57 points, 3.13 kills, 1.60 digs and .53 blocks per game.
