Some people from west coast who post on this wonderful board, which they’ve made crappy have resorted to put their own teams down just to make teams from MIVA and EIVA look bad, bad, bad. Your last resort is to put UCLA down just to make them look bad enough so Loyola doesn’t get any credit for taking them five games. Shame on you for betraying in essence your self, just to make others look bad. This is my last post on this what once was a great board to post, but you made it trashy. Great job!!!
I’m OUT!!!

MIVA and EIVA teams put themselves down when they talk the talk but can't walk. They get it handed to them when they play teams out here and somehow this is the MPSF fans fault? So if you want the respect you so need....WIN! If you win, the case is closed, until then you will be the little sister who contunually cries "NOT FAIR". Win some matches and prove your point.

Its all this comparing of teams and conferences that makes people just hate volleyball after a while. I know I am one of those. Don't people get sick of arguing why they think MPSF teams are better than everyone else, or get sick of arguing about who's stats are better than who's. After playing for a bunch of years I realize this is why its just no fun anymore.

So is it the argument about which argument is the best argument? Or just the argument as a whole?
Are you arguing while you are playing? If so, this is why you aren't having fun!! Because playing VB is always fun!
;D

I'm not sure it's the "arguments", but the way arguments are presented. UCantBSme, while he did and does have valid points regarding BSU's ranking, that I even agreed with, presented an opinion with such vitriol and anger that it was a bit confusing as to what his grind really was. Was it the ranking or with ANY MIVA/EIVA team getting a higher ranking?
And some of the rest of you? Are you serious with trash talking on a message board? if it's the whole someone else did it first thing, why lower yourself to the lowest common denominator? Or are you the lowest common denominator?
Hey, bad rankings happen in every sport. If a team keeps winning they maintain or get a better ranking, if they lose, the rankings are adjusted. But what came out wasn't dialogue on it, it was seemingly a bunch of people complaining, a bunch of people defending, and some just putting down all the teams east of the Rockies. There was even some seemingly self-righteous praising, even going so far as posting a new thread saying "see, I told you so" "I knew I was right" and "I hate to admit it, but I was right". Wow, couldn't a post entitled "BSU's ranking is too high" gotten some better and perhaps more intelligent dialogue? I'm sure it would have, and UCBSM did say so. Instead what we got was the whole puffing of chests and hunching of backs. It takes a big man to admit he's wrong, a bigger man to forget he's right.
In speaking for only myself, I've seen exactly two men's teams play this year and I can tell you this, the lower ranked team won and the next rankings reflected this.
As for Midwest teams "talking the talk" and then crying not fair? Hey, I agree. If you talk trash and lose, here comes the crow, put on the bib. Are there times when teams I played on lost to a west coast team we thought were better than? Sure, but we had our chance and blew it, but that doesn't mean we didn't belong on the court with them, which some might have thought and if one of the posters was there, might suggest. I will say this though, it is way tougher to go west and play than to go east and play and it does have to do with the time difference. Not an excuse for playing like crap and getting your lunch handed to you, but it does have an effect.
That said, I do agree that a lot of posts are meant to denigrate the EIVA/MIVA and I'm not sure why that is. If volleyball had not developed into a national sport and had only stayed out west I'm not sure it would even be recognized as a sanctioned NCAA sport. Is it accurate that the top teams in the midwest right now aren't where the top teams in the midwest/east coast are? Yeah, but there was (and probably will be again) a time when the top teams were equal or close.
The last part of this involves another thread but a quick note, many players from the Midwest go out west for several reasons and yes, one of them is the ball is better on a nightly basis, I agree. Another is that bigger schools have volleyball. BSU is not OSU or PSU and it is tougher to recruit some of the players. If more BIG TEN schools had men's vball I think you'd start to see more of the top midwest players staying closer to home. I'm happy that so many players from the Midwest have had the opportunity to go out there, but I'm also a big proponent of the best players staying in the Midwest and I hope that day isn't too far off. It's better for volleyball.
