But it is volleyball, it is a division III institution, and it happened while the players were on a school sponsored trip. Still have yet to hear of a rape or murder or whatever serious crime besides maybe assault being committed while a football team was playing on the road!

I agree with that, the coach shouldn't take the blame because he can't he everywhere. The players got what they deserved but the coach and the program doesn't deserve the rep that they have now. I think it will be interesting to see how the program is going to recover after this.

According to my sources this is the second year in a row that there has been a discipline problem. Last Season, there was a party and their starting setter was suspended for a match in the EIVA playoffs. This was a team under a lot of scrutiny and this was the last straw. This season included two captains dismissed, more "suspensions" and then a coach's resignation.
When you comapre a Division I institution you show ignorance to the Division III model. Div III school sponsor sports and expect the student atheletes to be like all others. No special treatment. No one is on athletic scholarship and no one has to drink and party like a rock star. You do and the consequences follow especially after one team specifically was warned.
There was also talk that there were so many culprits that the season may have been halted. before one says things like they party know your facts and know that consequences for actions happen everyday.

Before we start pointing fingers, we need to know all the facts. For all we know these guys could have rapped and assulted someone. I hope this coach finds another job though...it sounds like he's good for the sport.

Ken is one of the best. I wish him well. Some school will be fortunate to land him. My bet is he will go to a women's program. Any takers?

It is a shame that after what happened last year these youngmen, that we know Shibuya disciplined after last years event, would temp fate twice. The young gentlemen in question have done more damage than they think to this program. Ken will most likely end up being on the bench of a D1 women's program. That would be a shame for the men's game, if it happens. Hopefully he goes to a D1 men's program. He does sucha great job at developing players for the next level that it would be better for the men's volleyball that he goes to a college with a solid men's program already in exsistance.

How about a great trade?
PSU will trade Coach Dennis (looking to headcoach after a decade of assisting) and 20 volleyballs FOR Ken (needing to understand the big school) and 3 nets and a couple of poles.

Ken understands the big school already. Ken's problem was not booting these troublemakers earlier. I think there is more of this than gets to see the light of day. And we're not helping ourselves by sweeping it under the rug. I know it's a serious problem out west with some of the "big schools". Enough said.
