If all college volleyball was played with the intensity and heart of this match, it would rival the big sports. The entire match was incredibly well played by both teams. Few points were won on mistakes and about every third point involved something spectacular. Both teams definitely rose to the occassion!

Actually it seems that the serving by UCI was the difference, which indicates that there were quite a few points that were won off of errors. UCI had eight more aces in the match than BYU (passing errors), and BYU had seven more service errors compared to UCI. That's fifteen points off of errors for UCI. BYU lost the match by a total of 10 points. Serving and passing errors won the game for UCI. I'm impressed considering the fact that they were outhit .325 to .268 and outblocked 19 to 10. It will be interesting to see if UCI brings their serving and if BYU brings their passing tonight. I am dissapointed that UCI isn't holding tonight's match in the Bren. It's great that you guys had the chance to feel the intensity that we get to feel here in Provo. I don't know what they did to market the game, but they should keep on doing it!

It was a great match, it was also good to see the fans storm the court after the match. Good luck to UCI the rest of the way!

The Bren Center is a great venue. A couple of years ago I went to the Hawaii vs. UCI match. At the time UCI and Hawaii were like 1 & 2 in the polls. There was about 3,000 fans (50/50 Hawaii and Anteater fans), they had cable coverage and they were selling beer at the match. Fans on both sides were great. I think the problem for the Anteaters is that the Bren Center is like a neutral court for them, because they don't play alot of games there. I know in the Hawaii game, the Anteaters were having a problem adjusting to the arena.
But as Coach Speraw's boys continue to play well, they'll have no choice but to move more games to the Bren Center. That more $$$$ for the program.
