uci will have their hands full on thursday night . trojans are loaded for bear and will cut uci down in a thrilling 5 game match Every team in the MPSF has their hands full in every conference match. USC has been playing well and UCI will not overlook this team...the captain, the players and the staff will not allow it. I agree, it is going to be a very good match.

I agree, UCI got lucky this weekend against BYU. BYU played awful both nights. UCI will be way over confident and they will lose to USC and Pepp this week.
USC in 4 Pepp in 3

UCI got lucky? Don't know how you figure that. They played man!! BYU didn't come up with the plays when they needed them beacause UCI wouldn't let them. To say it was luck is crazy. SC better bring their A game, because the Anteaters are rollin!!

I'm going to have to disagree, both Cala and Baptista hit over .400 (.444 - Cala, .429 - Baptista) on the first night, with 32 kills for Cala, for almost any player, thats a good night. I will however agree that both team didn't play great this past weekend, but remember on any given night, the team executes better and makes less errors would most likely win. BYU put themselves in a hole by making a lot of service errors.
Both USC and UCI are on a roll, it will be interesting to see what teams show up, for what going to look like a very good match

How do you possibly see USC on a roll? They are coming off a very recent loss to LBSU, a team ranked below UCI and a team that has lost to UCI. While I never rule out an upset, a USC victory has to be a long shot.
If you have seen UCI play this year, you know they are not lucky. They are very consistent and steady. Their players are well composed despite their lack of big name and big press. They deserve their current ranking.

I'm not sure if everyone's considered this but UCI is on a 13-game winning streak AND just took out the #1 team in nation TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW. By no means do I rule out an upset BUT IT IS UNLIKELY. USC LOST to Long Beach State in 4-- a team that UCI beat in 4. What streak is USC on? I'll admit that they are playing better but Coach Speraw (UCLA alumn) will not let his guys lose to USC. He will prepare them mentally and physically. The Eater coaching staff will have all the guys dialed-in to the USC match and the balanced Irvine attack will keep USC on it's heels.

If it were up to the eaters, they would play every match at Crawford rather than Bren. They're a small gym team trying to transition to a large arena team. Their wins at Hawaii. LB and UCLA show that they can adapt, but with only one win at Bren in the history of the program, the home court advantage there has yet to be established. As to USC, they were beaten in their little gym quite handily by UCI. Thornton went down with an eye injury early in the third game, but it still didn't make a difference. USC is a young team much like UCI was last year. Grangiero is much like Spittle, and Killian is solid, but the rest of the team does not impress. Offense wins games and defense wins championships. Right now UCI has the best defense, front and backrow combined in the conference. There are better blocking teams but no better digging team. Their tough serving often results in a bad pass, limiting the offense, and making defense easier. It all works together and is fun to watch. Speraw is Coach of the Year right now.
