Well, from a woman - there is no need to wear underwear with the shorts. They are made of a material to wick sweat and do that best without underwear in between. They are also more comfortable without underwear, especially if the underwear is sweaty. And from an aesthetic standpoint, who wants to see visible panty lines with the skintight shorts?

I've never met a female volleyball player who wore/wears underwear under her spandex.

Any GYN/OB will tell you it is much healthier to have a cotton crotch between you and your spandex.

I think this is all just feeding into the OP's desire to get people talking about a "delicate(s)" situation, only to sit back and laugh afterward.

One of our former players was taken out shopping by the seniors for thongs as a initiation ritual for her first year in college. They didn't want anyone on their team to have panty lines.
As a comment, the spandex is slowly evolving into bunhuggers. Spandex was consideredthe best thing to happen to volleyball because it covered more area than the bunhuggers. Now, there isn't much difference IMHO.

My old roommates (in different sports, both females and both wearing spandex for their sport) did not wear underwear with their spandex.
That sounds creepier than it really is.

First let me state that I have read many things here on Volley Talk, but I don't believe I have ever seen the word "genetalia" used in a thread. What's going on? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) After coaching club and college women for more years than I care to remember, anytime the subject has come up (way too many rides and conversations in vans and buses), most of the women thought those that wore anything under their spandex were nuts. Don't know what to make of the "ritual" but apparently wearing nothing under spandex is more common than anything else. Don't care what you do with this thread - keep it here, move it - doesn't matter to me, but can we ban all future threads that use the word "genetalia"?
