Drew Pickering

Drew Pickering, a 5-11 freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist Lewis (6-12, 2-4 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association), has been chosen the MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division Player of the Week. In 3-1 victories at Carthage (30-28, 23-30, 30-25, 30-28), against Clarke (30-20, 30-27, 26-30, 30-24) and a 0-3 (33-35, 22-30, 14-30) loss to NAIA No. 1 Lindenwood. Pickering had a career-high 28 kills and hit .460 at Carthage. He added an ace serve, five digs and five assist blocks. Against Clarke, he had 21 kills (.204), adding three ace serves, a career-high 15 digs and three assist blocks marking the first double-double for Lewis this season. Against Lindenwood, Pickering had 14 kills (.158) and four digs. For the three matches, he averaged 6.45 points, 5.73 kills, 2.18 digs and .73 blocks per game while hitting .285.

MSOE, OH, 6-6, Sophomore, Wheeling, Ill.

Mike Mocchi, a 6-6, sophomore, outside hitter for MSOE has been chosen the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, Coleman Division Player of the Week for his play last week Mocchi, in a 0-3 (19-30, 12-30, 22-30) loss at Ball State had a team-high 11 kills, adding four digs and an assist block. He hit .889 (eight kills, nine attempts) in a 3-0 (30-18, 30-10, 30-17) conference win over Central State, playing in two games. He added three ace serves, a dig and an assist block in the match. He played one game in the non-league match with Central State, recording four kills (.333), an ace serve, one digs and a solo block. In the three matches, Mocchi hit .348 while averaging 4.83 points, 3.83 kills, 1.00 digs and .50 blocks per game.
