That guy did tryout for the team. He is only 6'4 with sub-par jumping ability, he would have been on our second team, had he not quit.

Setters need to jump a lot? Or did he try out for another position? And how was his setting? I notice the setter on the Poly II team is also from the same H.S.
The HS coach was a major major player for Pacific just a few years back, which would make one think he might know good setters and height???. hmmmm.....
Also notice that Poly I and II team rosters only list one setter. Howzat working?

Brian Belding and if it is the Mckenna Brothers you are talking about they are garbage, and a whole lot of that too. I played at Bellermine and they brought nothing to the table.

For poly only having one setter listed on each team, it is a little scary, but the liberos for both teams set on their HS teams. The first team oppo also set for the league mini-tournament last year, so we do have some experienced back-ups.
Considering how setters are generally matched up against the opposing team's better hitting OH, I think having a tall setter that can jump is a huge advantage.
The frosh's setting wasn't as good as the varsity or jv setter's

Just ran into two good vball players in the last week in the Bay Area, H.S. seniors, who have been admitted to Poly for fall. You will enjoy them.
