Those of you who are looking to start new D-1 programs at major universities should be aware of this. It's meager, but it's a start: "Over 35 schools have started men’s volleyball programs since the beginning of the Men’s NCAA Collegiate Grant Program, which is administered by USA Volleyball. The program offers a $6,000 grant to an NCAA institution that establishes and sustains a men’s varsity volleyball program for three years."Who's game? www.ncaasports.com/volleyball/mens/story/8647407

So... let me get this straight... $2k a year to keep a vb program going for 3?
Wow... that's hardly worth it... that's not enough to buy volleyballs for practice.

Didn't the NCAA revoke BYU's '04 championship?
Or maybe they only revoke it when it's not in their favor:
"The Cougars started its program in 1990, and have won three NCAA Championships in 1999, 2001 and 2004. "

D3 programs really take full advantage of this. Teams that have been added in the last 5 years that have used this (Carthage, Lasell, Mt. Ida, Emmanuel, Southern Vermont, Green Mountain College, Nazareth) to just name a few. For most D3 programs having part time coaches.. this is probally enough to cover the 1 year stipend to pay their coach. Yes most d3 part time coaches are making only from about 5-8 thousand per season.
