I remember not that long ago I mention on another thread that UCLA, better yet-AL Scates, would have the Bruins ready for the playoffs. Some of you scoffed at the idea. Those doing it were mostly Scates haters. Now he has them in a position to maybe get his, would it be, 19th or 20th MEn's Championship. I'm not saying that they are going to win it, so all you UCI fans don't get your heads in a tizzy. Remember great coaches always find ways to have their teams prepared for GREATNESS. Some day I hope to be able to say that. No one cares what you think you said way back when. This was a great win for UCLA and a tragic loss for UH. Leave it at that. Let UH fans be. I'm sure they are sick enough as it is w/o you rubbing it in their face. Actually it wasn't a UH fan who made the comment. It was a someone who was Al Scates bashing on here about a month ago. I was just refering to that. I feel bad for the UH team and fans. They have a solid team and program. I hope theyDO get the At-large. They have proven they deserve it. Sorry if I offended you with what I said. No knock on UH, that is a great school.

No matter how poorly my team played, I would never say "it had nothing to do with UCLA" if I lost. I am in no way a UCLA fan but, they deserve credit for going to Hawaii and getting it done. Always, and I mean always give your opponent credit.

I have to admit, I and many people I know were taken back by that comment. That's one of the toughest environments on the planet to play, and to get away from there with any victory must be given due credit, especially in the MPSF tournament with everything on the line. There's also such a thing as one team making another play poorly. The opponents don't usually make many hitting errors during warm ups when they're not hitting against a block, eh. Not to mention that any team coming into the SS Center is going to be intimidated, taking a while to get acclimated to that crowd and space. UCLA could have melted after that first game thrashing... like so many other teams tend to do when they get behind... but the Bruins found a way to get new energy and FINISH! I was surprised Wilton took that path.

Ok Mr. Therapist. You are the last person who should be giving advice. Your team won and now has a better chance to get into the FF. You are loving it. That doesn't mean you need to piss people off.[/quote]

Always, and I mean always give your opponent credit. But it's true, I don't think UCLA is that great of a team, Hawaii just did not show up. Whoever saw that match would agree. But I do give credit to UCLA, they took that game seriously, and gave a great effort. Even if they lost I would still give them credit for the effort they gave. On the other hand I wouldn't give any credit to Hawaii because they just played so uninspiring, and since they took on that careless attitude, then they undoubtedly deserved to lose- which applies to any team who would do the same.

Red, must you be such a name-caller? Might be nice if you could refrain from personal attacks on the board...it's just a shared-interest forum for banter. No need to get mean, man...chill

And on Wilton saying 'it had nothing to do w/ UCLA'...that sounds like plain 'ol sour grapes to me. SCOREBOARD, Clint Eastwood look-alike...your boys got taken out @ your own place. No excuses...just props to UCLA and lose gracefully. You WILL get the at-large

HEY ZODROW !!! IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE BOTH LONG BEACH AND pEPPERDINE JUMPED AHEAD OF YOUR BELOVED " WAHINES " !!! Get a grip , it will be a very fat chance that Hawaii will be in the Final four "AT ALL " because the committee does take into consideration the last polls and how those teams are playing at the time . UCLA " WAS " the better team last Saturday night and they played well when they had to and the "WAHINES " Didn't !!!!!!
BY THE WAY , I DON'T LIKE UCLA EITHER - JUST THE FACTS

HEY ZODROW !!! IN CASE YOU DIDN'T NOTICE BOTH LONG BEACH AND pEPPERDINE JUMPED AHEAD OF YOUR BELOVED " WAHINES " !!! Just think, if the Wahines are #4 in the MPSF, it doesn't say much for the other teams...imagine where the Warriors would be ranked!
