Three division 3 programs getting some very solid players. Thats good recruiting. Plus MIT getting Cali Kids to leave home no matter what is a big thing. Dave is doing a great job over there.

those Boys JO bids are Open? assume there will be more At Large ? or Club? Yes, after the East Coast championships (last qualifier) the At Large openings will be filled. A team must apply for an At Large and slots are issued based on the number of registered players in the region. Southern Cal, with the most players, gets the most slots and then I believe it is Great Lakes but not for sure. On the boys side, only the Open side has bids. The Club division is open to any team who sends in their information (and money) until it gets full. If you are interested in all of the details, check out the pre-tournament manual on the USAV website: www.usavolleyball.org/Media/Juniors/06_boys/06BJOPTM124.pdf

MIT has a national reputation as a school. They are usually among the top 30 schools annually acording to US News and World Report. All it took was a good coach who seemed to care.

thanks for Boy's JO info. Am tracking results of several seniors who have committed to Cal, and should be in JO's with their clubs...
plus we are tracking a bunch of fr/soph/jrs who have indicated an interest in coming to Cal.
(I understand the girl's side with a son who coaches girl's club but it has been TOOOO long since he was in JO's for me to remember how that side works).

Actually the whole bid thing is only 4 or 5 years old on the boys side. Prior to that, Open was for those who applied and their records were analyzed for acceptance. In 2001, there wasn't even a 15 boys open, Open & Club separation started at the 16's level.
