When was the last time we had a Final Four (even though we're not supposed to call it that) with two truly unique and interesting mascots in it? Come on, that's got to make for some interesting t-shirt ideas in Happy Valley this weekend! ;D

Agreed. There should be a contest by the NCAA for the most clever t-shirt idea.

While "bruin" and "nittany lion" are unique, neither the lion or the bear are "unique" as far as a mascot. Both exist in many forms. While Alabama uses an elephant in its logo, is there a D-1 program that uses an elephant? If not, that is what makes the mastadon unique. Also, are there any mascots that are now "extinct?"
As for the anteater, that speaks for itself. But any t-shirt with a banana slug on it would be a big seller. Simply, if you make the shirt, I will order one.

CS Fullerton (#1) uses Titans, and an elephant as it's mascot.
It matters if you like college baseball.

Current Mastadon C.J. Macias previously played for The University of Findlay "Oilers".....went on a visit to possibly transfer to Irvine "anteater" and ended up transfering to the IPFW "Mastadons" after the UF program was shelved. Interesting did you know fact right there.

If we want to leave the college ranks, how about the Boston Bruins and the Edmonton Oilers. I can't think of another Anteaters or Nittany Lions. Ramblers I believe is also unique.

For the record, it's an 'o' and not an 'a' in MastOdons...not sure why that is, but it's all over their website. Also, it's already been mentioned that a 'Nittany' lion is still a lion (and thus, not terribly original)...same logic applies to a 'Bruin' (since it's merely a bear). So, back to the topic at hand...what would be some neat shirt ideas (or signs) using the two mascots in question (and provided something crazy happened - like they ended up playing each other)?

IPFW T-shirt:....An anteater standing in the road (or field) with its eyes overtly wide and a mastOdon bigger than life bearing down on it as if it were a deer caught in head lights....
UCI T-shirt (much harder):....thousands of little elephant like creatures running for a "pyramid" (mound) and an anteater waiting, hovering above the mound with a drooling snout and a sinister sneer....
