OK, so who thought it would be Texas and San Fran? Anybody? Certainly not me.
I like the style of baseball the Giants play, but I think the Rangers will take them.
As a Mariners fan, I'm glad Cliff Lee managed to get into the WS, but I sure wish Seattle would have been good enough to justify keeping him around.

Not me. Towards 3/4 through the season, I was thinking it would be Philadelphia and New York Yankees that would end up playing for the World Series. As much as I like the Yankees, Texas seem to have really put it together, both pitching and at bat at the right time. I am also disappointed that the Yankees' bats were asleep almost completely during the AL championship series. But I also give credit to Texas' pitching too. I haven't paid much attention to the NL teams, but, I am hoping it will be a great World Series. One that goes down to the wire, playing the full 7 games during the series.

No baseball until Wed. I hate that. Why the four day delay? The WS should start right away, keeping the pitchers in rotation and keeping everyone warmed up.

I don't particularly care bout either team, but the Dawg in me is going for San Fran so Lincecum gets a ring.

The only explanation that I can think of is to give enough time for fans of both teams (and baseball fans in general) to book flight and hotel reservations (and everything else that goes with planning a trip) to each of the opposing teams' venue if they choose to travel with their team. But I agree with your reasons of why it should start right away.

It makes no sense, other than to stretch things out for TV. I really don't want to watch baseball in November. And unless you live in Dallas or San Francisco, I don't think too many other people will be watching either.

They probably wanted to start on Wednesday so they could get all of they hype.
ESPN pushes MNF on Monday.
tuesday is the start of the NBA season. If the World series started, what would be the lead story on SC? the first WS game or the first game of the Lebron/Wade miami heat?

They need a few days to churn out the commemorative tshirts and merchandise to each metropolitan area's million or so bandwagon fans, who have been flooding stores for the last few days, snatching up the entire inventory of cheap crap with their team logo on it as soon as it hits the shelves. Plus, they have to program the TV slots, arrange production details for the host cities, start the nonstop hype machine to make sure they get enough eyeballs to sell to advertisers, pre-write all the inane press releases and color commentary to keep the fans from falling asleep in the four minute interval between the times where someone on the field actually has to break out into a brief jog, and so on.

Giants win.
Somehow I kind of forgot about the series after they had the off-day, and didn't see any of games 3, 4, or 5.
