For them to be tied, BYU must lose both to Pep, and Hawaii must go undefeated for the next 8 games. Either one of those doesn't happen, and BYU will be ahead. so are you saying that BOTH of those need to happen, or just one or the other? i'm too lazy to figure it out for myself.

if hawaii and byu end up tied, who wins the tiebreaker for seeding?

BYU would win the tie-break. BYU beat Hawaii in three and Hawaii beat BYU in four. Based on the number of games, BYU wins. For Hawaii to be the number 2 seed, they will need to win all their matches and BYU will need to lose 3 matches, not 2.
