Considering they both deleted their posts (Odin probably did).. is VERY interesting................. I believe I now know who Coast HWY is. We should all just say who we are. There would be so much less crap on here. OK - You start

Can anyone tell me about Inky - what are her strengths and weaknesses? Why is she considered a top recruit?

If Stanford can bring in a 2012 recruiting class of Anjanaku, Bugg, and Burgess, then they will be back in the National Championship picture IMO. What about Howard? I would also like more info on Anjanaku. Just for name value, I like the combo of Bugg to Inky.

Her name is Madison Bugg. She is a great setter, and I have heard Stanford has been a life long dream. She was North Carolina's Gatorade POY in 2009. Anyway, Madi Bugg visited Stanford sometime around Dec 2010 and thinks the school is PERFECT for her. So there you go Cardinal fans. Based on pointtech's post, Bugg sounds like a fantastic prospect. It would be nice to intercept the NC to State College pipeline if only to show that Stanford has appeal to NC kids. Nice to point that out. The last 3 standouts from NC have all played for PSU... Hodge, Kabbes and Slay. It would be nice for Stanford to 'snatch' a talent out of that state... A talent that is believed to be one of the best setters of her class.

There's a third standout Katie from NC. She's at UCLA.

Ah, the wonders of high school volleyball, and those were two pretty good teams. Been a few years.

All of her skills were rough -- passing, hitting, blocking, digging, and serving. Sure, she was the best player for Mtn. View, and very good at the HS level, but I would not project her as a starter for Stanford in 2012. I'll try and follow up by taking in at least one of her matches next fall to see how she is maturing.

Burgess will fulfill their immediate needs while Howard probably wont be ready until her sophomore year. However, her upside is huge. With the right training she could be an absolute monster by the time she's a senior in college (not that she can't prove me wrong and improve by leaps and bounds in the next year and a half)

I read somewhere that Howard had 5.2 kills/set and a high hitting percentage this past high school season. I know high school stats can be deceiving because competition levels vary so I place more emphasis on someone’s first hand observations.
This is my question. Will any 2012 recruit be able to start at OH2 for Stanford their freshman year? If yes, then that is probably the best choice. If not, then I like the player with the bigger upside.
The difficult thing in evaluating 16/17 year old kids that are 6’4” like Howard is that some of them gain a lot of coordination over the next couple years and some don’t. It is really difficult to predict.

Wopat or Bai or Boukather improves the next 2 years before the arrival of a Top 2012 OH (I assume Williams will be OH1). Re: Burgess and Howard. We all know the situation with Burgess (offered a scholie by Stanford) but how about Howard? Is she being recruited by Stanford to begin with?

That is, is she a young junior in HS or an old one? If she (say) was born in late summer or fall, and is younger than many or her peers, then her upside should be somewhat greater.

It is really difficult to predict. I really worry about the size issue with both Burgess and Williams as your primary outside hitters. Not so much from the attacking perspective, but much more from the blocking one. Given the size/jumping ability of some of the hitters in the Pac-10, going with two 6'0" OH's is somewhat dubious. With that said, at least Williams has very good blocking technique and can swing block effectively. We don't know that much about Burgess' blocking technique/timing yet to be able to determine what she can do against BIG Pac-10 hitters like The Planet and Falyn F.
