We live in a country where WBB took first place in college sports away from WVB because of anti-feminism... the popular sports for women play being (or being imitations of) the popular sports that men play... and yet the people on top call themselves feminists. I call them opportunists. But what's your point? In all the recruiting articles that I have read about Nneka and Chiney, not one mentioned the possibility of doing the double. So again, why drag the Ogwumike sisters into a conversation that had no realistic baring in the first place?

ok, so i've been looking up all the potential stanford recruits for 2012 add any if i miss any (which is a definate possibility) jordan burgess-(verbal) brittany howard madelyn bugg melanie wade cinnemon sary mercedes binns (some said she is class of 2011 some say class 2012) now there is still question of how many scholarships are there? Her name is Madison Bugg. She is a great setter, and I have heard Stanford has been a life long dream. Her athletic abilities and leadership are great, she was a vocal leader for an 18u team as a 16 year old. She only gets to set during club season. Her high school needs her to hit on the left, and she led them to a state championship this past season. Her pedigree is excellent too...Mom played at Tenn. and Dad has been a part of starting clubs in various areas along with Mom. Bugg plays for a great club in NC. She is a pleasure to watch.

I refuse to apologize for wishing for a world where the balance between college WBB and WVB... including the damn-near official boycott of WVB in the Bay Area's newspapers... were more even.
If Saki doesn't like it, too damn bad.

I am sure that all of us here on the West Coast in general and California in particular are going to lose tons of sleep over the ability of Mr. Dunning & Co to fill their recruiting quota!

Based on pointtech's post, Bugg sounds like a fantastic prospect. It would be nice to intercept the NC to State College pipeline if only to show that Stanford has appeal to NC kids.
I don’t know anything about Bugg. Who would fit in better at Stanford, Bugg or Sary? Stanford should be a desirable destination for a setter in 2012. Cook will be a senior. One year on the bench and the team is theirs probably for three years. Plus any recruit should be able to see the stars may align for the Cardinal in 2013 with the 2010 class being seniors.
And thanks for your input Beachman.

She's a good leader and it seems like the girls she plays with really like playing with her.

Bugg lists at 5'11" and I think Sary is 5'8". Bugg is listed on her club website as 6'1" She must have grown, because last time I checked I could swear she was listed at 5'11". I'm not complaining though. If she is really 6'1", blocking should not be an issue. Can anyone comment on her blocking technique and timing?

Take the FIVB player info for example, that is a huge joke.

If Saki doesn't like it, too damn bad. I agree with your assertion that it is a shame that women's volleyball isn't as high profiled as women's basketball. But that's an entirely different issue and subject. I am not disagreeing with you on that point. But you aren't addressing your original argument. You insinuated earlier that the Ogwumike sisters are not allowed to play volleyball because of Tara VanDerveer. I am just asking for proof as to where you got that idea. If I am mistaken, then I apologize.

Her height bounces around, but I can definitely say she tops 6' after watching her live. Her blocking technique is good, I watched her more in high school than club, so her blocking on the left is solid, reads backslides well. Someone else has probably seen her on the right blocking more, so they can comment.

If Stanford can bring in a 2012 recruiting class of Anjanaku, Bugg, and Burgess, then they will be back in the National Championship picture IMO.

Setters who are good blockers make the possibility of running a 5-1 a reality.
