Wasn't aware she had committed, but for sure this summer her mom was panicking because they hadn't had much from Stanford and that was where they wanted to go.

I assume you mean interest, though we all know what happens when we assume. I was under a different impression.

Most parents of collegiate athletes are tools. They come on VT fishing for compliments about their kids, and doing damage control against people like me that talk smack about their kids. Haha. After their kids are done playing college ball and graduate with their degrees and move back into the basement, these parents clear out of VT for the next group of dorkwad parents.
It's the cyclical nature of VT.

ok, so i've been looking up all the potential stanford recruits for 2012 add any if i miss any (which is a definate possibility)
jordan burgess-(verbal) brittany howard madelyn bugg melanie wade cinnemon sary mercedes binns (some said she is class of 2011 some say class 2012)
now there is still question of how many scholarships are there?

Available Scholarships in 2012 depend upon:
1) Will Charlotte Brown still be injured and take a medical dissolution? (Hope not, bad to see her injured) 2) Is Lydia Bai on another scholarship, not athletic, if such a thing is possible (Chinese community support for academic scholie seems a natural). 3) If Mackenzie Gilbert ( or another recruit) is not on a scholarship for next year, if she, or another, comes in and plays libero, will the staff wait to award her the Hannah Benjamin scholie for their last two years, or an available one for 2012, ala Gabi Ailes?
4) We'll assume Jessica Walker will stay a fifth year, in 2012; if not, why redshirt. If Stephanie Browne's injury continues to next year and Charlotte Brown continues on the injury list, Jessica will be on the court for every eligible play in the front row.
So how many are available for 2012? Have to answer those questions, I don't think the staff will and no reasonable way to find out other than to ask. Could be anywhere from 1 (Burgess); if Charlotte stays, Lydia gets a scholie and Gilbert does also, to three more, if none of that happens. And who besides Stanford fans cares much anyway?

however, i predict sary will turn out to be a trojan. Now wait a minute, there is absolutely no reason to to say someone is going to turn into a condom.

Stanford didn't make much use of planned redshirt years until somewhere around 2006 or 2007... that's when it became standard practice for their freshmen MBs to redshirt. The first for whom an exception was made was Carly Wopat. If it had been standard practice in 2005, Foluke Akinradewo would have been another exception. Though Don Shaw and Denise Corlett (then, as now, Stanford's associate) recruited Ogonna Nnamani, he didn't coach during the 2000 season (when Ogonna was a senior in high school)... he was on leave and Coach Corlett was the interim head coach. When Don came off leave and took the men's job, Coach Dunning was hired from UOP in early 2001. I don't think it's standard practice for Stanford middle blockers to redshirt. It just has to do with who was playing in front of them. When Stephanie Browne came in, there was Akinradewo, Girard, and Okogbaa in front of her. When Jessica Walker enrolled at Stanford, Akinradewo, Okogbaa, and Browne were in front of her. And I think Charlotte Brown was injured most of her freshman year, so it didn't make any sense for her to play, especially when again, there were others in front of her (Okogbaa, Browne, and Walker).

Wasn't there a middle from Oklahoma or Arkansas that Stanford was after also.. Some African name if I am remembering correctly. [sarcasm]There are two very good African-American volleyball players on campus from Texas who are playing some sport that features a glass backboard and a metal rim with some funny twine below it. Though the facilities people haul all that stuff away for volleyball matches, the other sport's court lines are still visible and still get in the way.[/sarcasm] Nneka and Chiney Ogumwike really are that good... sigh. The Ogwumike sisters were never going to play volleyball at Stanford. They might have flirted with the idea during their recruiting process, but everyone knew that basketball was their main sport and their passion. If Chiney Ogwumike and Nneka Ogwumike were seriously thinking about playing volleyball, then why would they choose UConn and Baylor, respectively, as their second choices? Such big volleyball powers...
