Didn’t realize Stanford was interested in Zoë Gillen-Malveaux Does that mean they’ll have two MB’s for the class of 2025 including Taylor Harvey? She's very talented, I'd love to have them both. Hazel Alevok as well.....

My daughter and I were watching one of her future college teammates on a 17s team play a match at RRR this weekend, and this middle for the opposing team was fire. 6'5", a little lanky and initially seemed awkward, but then she ran a slide and we were both like Oh My Gherkins!!!! I thought, holy cow, we found a diamond in the rough!! Talked with one of the College Coaches for a D1 program I know that was there, that she needed to check this girl out!! After going through the pools to figure out the team (I had never heard of them before), she tells me, Oh, yep that girl is already on her way to Stanford. I was a little sad that I had not "discovered" anything. But, Elizabeth Andrew from Athena VBC is worth a look =)

For anyone in SoCal, Baird/Kipp/Miner/Oglivie are playing in a public USWNT scrimmage on Saturday 9:30am during the SCVA tournament. Only 18 college athletes were selected and Stanford had 4. Curious to know if Baird has improved- she could help take Stanford to the next level if she improves her passing and regains her hitting form from 2021. Also, does anyone know if Stanford is playing any spring season matches this year that are open to the public? usavolleyball.org/story/spring-training-scrimmage-in-anaheim-open-to-public/

I plan to be at the public USWNT scrimmage and will give a report. I also am interested in Baird's hopeful improvement. Her passing at times and ineffective tips kept me frustrated throughout last season. I'm putting that out of my mind and approaching the 2023 season as a clean slate.
I thought Blyashov might have a shot at replacing Baird in the starting lineup due to better passing. Then I saw Blyashov in person at a club tournament. While Blyashov will be very good for a freshman I now consider Baird the best bet for the starting role.
FWIW I think the season comes down to the starters staying healthy. Every position except OH is not deep IMO.
As far as I know Hambly has never had a spring match open to the public. I asked the question on a Stanford sports board and was told it was unlikely.
Thanks for the input Chloride. I expect Andrew might be a "project" freshman year so Stanford needs another MB most likely in 2024. But who knows. Foluke was described as a project going into her freshman season and progress came fairly quickly.

I know Andrew, Alevok have great height. But I love the athleticism of Taylor Harvey and Gillan-Malveaux. Harvey may play basketball ball instead.

I would take Hazel next on just raw potential. Haven't seen enough of Filan-Malveaux. Not sure about Andrew at all.

Still a bit unpolished but have lots of potential. She can hit slide well and is athletic.

She's not closing all those blocks in the video, but she absolutely has the athleticism and speed to do it. Look at what Hambly did with Alade. He'll coach her up and she'll be at 1.6 bps in no time. Hitting looks great for a 10th grader.

OK. Who are your starting LOH from Rubin, Baird, Harvey, Blyashov, and Kurt? I get the impression that folks think it's Rubin and either Baird or Blyashov, but what do you do with Kurt?

No way a freshman whose name is not Torrey Stafford starts over Baird, at least at the beginning of the season.

Any chance Kurt would redshirt, if she is playing behind Kipp?
