In fairness, he’s just giving his opinion based on what he’s seen. I trust coaching staffs to evaluate better than me as well, but I also have been a bit underwhelmed by Mullen when watching. When I thought she was Nebraska bound I was struggling trying to convince myself that she was more impressive than what I was seeing in her Nationals matches. I did see a smart player though, which coincides with his observation that she’s crafty and makes good decisions. Certainly a great prospect and I’d imagine Stanford has a great shot at getting her. I don't fully disagree, there were players I saw at nationals who 'wowed' me more than mullen did... but if she's #1 on the top recruiting school's list, there's a reason lol. if Nebraska has shown anything in the last 3 classes its that they know who the big ones are. I think because she isn't bouncing balls in club she doesn't look as impressive as others, but her efficiency remains very high. I didn't see her make a single error either lol, at least that was my observation FWIW, Mullen just made the U19 Worlds team. Essentially the best 24 & 25s. Demaria and Andrews are both alternates. usavolleyball.org/story/twelve-girls-u19-players-headed-to-world-champs/

Didn’t we bear a big string of unexpected losses when Miner and Xu were injured and Tufuga had to set? After Kalissa Greene quit the team. I think that shows how critical a top setter is. I’m sorry but this post is really ignorant and I’m not going to even bother explaining how having an impact setter is important Really? If Miner goes down and we have a walk on setter we are still a top 5 team right? If Kipp goes down and we replace her with any one of the three highly rated pin hitters we just brought in are we even top 10? And personal insults are always a lovely way to conduct yourself.

Mullen is a steady force and winner. Great combo.

Demaria gives me Klineman vibes. Something about her play reminds me of Alix.

Demaria gives me Klineman vibes. Something about her play reminds me of Alix. Watching videos I think Demaria plays a little taller than Mullen, has more approach speed, and has a nice swing block. Granted, watching in person gives a better overall evaluation. Maybe this is an apple to oranges comparison anyway. That is, Hambly might be thinking that Mullen is a right side hitter and Demaria will play left, or vice-versa. That means that one of them might need to be a decent passer and play solid middle back D. For pin hitters in 2025 we'll have at least the following: Blyashov, Rubin, Harvey, Kurt. I like a tall RS hitter for blocking so only Blyashov comes close. I'd say either Demaria or Mullen probably slot better on the right side.

I think all the teams recruiting Mullen has her slotted as an OPP.

Arizona expected to announce on Tuesday it's leaving PAC for Big 12. If it happens I heard (obviously something that can't be confirmed) Stanford will look around at its options. PAC needs to announce a media deal really soon. Uncertainty is damaging the conference.
I know Hambly watched Mullen at a tournament and made his presence very noticeable. I know a Husker fan said Mullen to Stanford. But has anyone here read on social media or in an article that Mullen has Stanford as her top choice or even one of her choices.
Will Stanford have a team scrimmage on August 19? If so I plan to attend.
Bailey Higgins (6'0" OH, 2024) out of Clearwater, Florida. Attends Berkeley Prep High School which I believe Jordan Burgess went to. Older brother played football for Stanford. Would she come to Stanford as a walkon or did she commit somewhere and I missed it?

I believe Higgins committed to FSU for beach http://instagram.com/p/ClMqebtpbFF There is another player from Berkeley Prep, Lily Hayes, who is a top ranked '25 libero (#19 overall per PrepDig and PrepVB) and would be a great get. Not sure if she interest/grades for Stanford but Stanford has had very good luck with VB players from her high school (Burgess, Okogbaa, Kyle Dagostino, Eileen Murfee, Anna Robinson, Sidney Brown). It's a strong academic program. I also hope to attend the preseason scrimmage this year but haven't seen a date posted yet?

Can we just join the Big 10. This is getting crazy.

I worry how this might affect recruiting. Yes, Stanford is Stanford, but the instability can’t help. And the argument about playing in the PAC is increasingly losing its luster. Can we just join the Big 10. This is getting crazy.

IMO the PAC losing it's luster will affect Stanford very little. I disagree and think it has already had some effect. In recent years, a handful of potential recruits have made it clear form the get go they want to stay in the B1G to be able to play against the best competition. This is while the PAC was the number 2 conference. It will have even more impact if the Pac stays and is at an even weaker level.

Strong teams but not challenged during conference leading to poor results in the tourney.
