I agree that 2023 was Stanford's last chance to excel at volleyball. There aren't any top players on the team and the coaching is terrible. All of Stanford's best possible recruits will be going to Texas, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and the other programs in which they will learn nothing in four years of play. Stanford should just drop women's volleyball as a competitive sport. I question if liberosetter understands this is sarcasm.

I wonder if Rubin will transfer after Miner is gone… She doesn't get a COVID year, does she? Nobody with half a brain in their head is transferring out of Stanford. Just ask Kalissa Greene. Volleyball is temporary, but that degree is forever

Why can't Stanford offer a competitive NIL Package? Stanford is striving to be the best in everything they do. They recruit best professors, best students, best athletes, best programs, best alumni, etc. With the money they have, they definitely can offer one of the best NIL packages for their athletes, right?

Money talks NIL is the way to go now Stanford will still be a top program, but we will no longer be winning against Texas/Nebraska anymore. I just hope we don’t get swept if we do play them lol 2023 was our best chance for another championship near term. 2024 we'll probably be in the #6 to #8 range preseason. Texas, Nebraska, and Wisconsin are so loaded that we'll have little chance of beating them in the NCAA Tournament. Florida and Pitt also look better IMO. Going forward, 2025 through 2027, we're likely to be in the #6 to #12 range with little chance of winning the NCAA Tournament. Probably a bit too pessimistic. Stanford will bring back 3 of the best players in the country at their positions (L, S, OH). Texas brought back 2 (Middle and OH) and won a NC, not everyone has to be a first team AA to win a NC. I would count 3 with Halter but I’m sure would get push back.

Transfer out of Stanford for Volleyball? This might be a reason NOT to transfer. Average Stanford Undergrad Salary $106,987 USD Average Nebraska Undergrad Salary $57,571 USD Average Texas Undergrad Salary $72,713 USD Obviously Stanford is the best of the best but I am sure where they end up also plays into this. I don’t see many Nebraska graduates moving to the coasts after graduation and $57,000 in Nebraska is better than $107,000 in California.

Only Kipp was using a covid year. Vicini and Baird were redshirt Seniors and could have a 6th year for covid. Neither will use it. Maybe they didn't tell the coaching staff early enough they wanted to use it as to have a scholarship, maybe coaches didn't offer it to them. Stanford cares about athletics but not at the level of Texas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, etc. Before looking at NIL, consider the facilities, they are nice but not WOW. Yes, Maples is getting some upgrades but started them during the season (basketball also has to deal with it) and will continue as shared facility. Stanford attracts the best of the best students who have excelled and obtained great recognition before ever getting to Stanford by obtaining patents, being published authors, etc, so the athletes are not that special. Athletes do not have the ability to register early for classes to help with travel/practice schedules nor do they receive preference in housing assisgnments. Pretty confident, at least a scheduling classes preferential, is standard practice at most universities. Then add in the ability to receive better NIL packages (though can't talk about that during recruiting, wink wink) at other universities and we will see where Stanford ends up in the recruiting battles down the road. Stanford has loyal fans but not over the top, crazy crowds like others. Hard for a teenager not to be impressed by what others can offer. You can tell a high school student that the value of the degree matters but at that age, how much weight are you putting on that as a deciding factor? In this day and age, takes a truly special and unique kid to pick Stanford. Makes me happy that the women on the team did.

Are there any other middles '25 class that we might be looking at besides Sayer?

Are there any other middles '25 class that we might be looking at besides Sayer? None that I've heard of. There's always a chance there is a foreign recruit we haven't heard of. In the past we've recruited two good ones out of Canada, Ifejeka and Alade.

Although that is likely true about the relative cost of living, that isn't how they calculate Undergrad salary. U of H Manoa, $39,000. Wharton, $600,000. Of course, I could be wrong =)
