At this point in the season does it make more sense to redshirt Blyashov and save a year of eligibility? Not sure how much of a difference she'll be able to make this season- I think our ceiling is probably Elite 8 with or without her. Considering she hasn't played competitively in 2 months, it's not a given that she would beat out Kurt now, who's been playing better recently (and they were already fairly close in level before the season). Of course, it will depend on her wishes. agree, unlikely she's some sort of revelation that is gonna suddenly fix the weaknesses they have this season - namely blocking and lack of firepower offensively

Didn’t she already redshirt? Do you mean her freshman year? No. She saw playing time

At the chalk talk last night Hambly mentioned that Blyashov had a setback in her recovery. He didn't give any timeline or say how serious it was, but it sounded like it would be unlikely she could play next weekend against FSU or Miami. You would think that a medical redshirt is very much in play now.

So both Logan Parks and Spencer Etzler are playing in the Under Armour showcase in Orlando early next year.
Kinda suprised how Kaci Demaria is not on the list...

I also agree. Stay with Kurt. If Michella Chester's October 24th bracket predicitions work out, then Stanford would eventually meetup with, Purdue and then at Nebraska, in order to make it to the final four. They aren't an elite team this year, so no point in installing Blyashov this late. Unlikely she'll add much value beyond what Kurt is producing.

Rubin is a great competitor, but can't carry the offense. She's just not that player. Rubin is very similar to the great Kristin Richards (Hildebrand).. part of that 2004 National Champion at Stanford. I’m a huge Richards fan.. has an amazing arm swing (my second fave next to Nicole Fawcett), is a fantastic all-around player but will never be the point scorer or top offensive option in a team. With that being said, this current Stanford will live (and die) with Rubin’s arm.

And I was not expecting Etzler to be there. Where does she rank among 2025 liberos? Hard to say actually since she's been playing as OH in HS and club most of the time. Her situation appears to be pretty similar to Elena Ogilvie's before she matriculated to Stanford. IMO Etzler is going to be a very good passer, but can she handle collegiate rockets. The game speeds up when you leave HS so can she adapt.
