Per the chalk talk last night and Hambly's discussion of the new recruits: 1) Etzler will be the new libero next year with Hambly ranking her as the #1 L recruit in the 2025 class 2) The slightly undersized Sayer is the likely replacement for Francis due to her fast arm swing and ability to be a high level slide hitter (IMO she will play somewhat like Carly Wopat) 3) Hambly did mention the possibility of running a 6-2 next year because of Logan Parks athleticism which he compared to Miner's (and I don't disagree) If Stanford does run a 6-2 next year, then probably Setters: Yu and Parks OH: Rubin and Blyashov OPP: Harvey and Kurt MH: Andrew and Sayer L: Etzler DS/Serving Specialists: Pringle, Cawa, Koko K Has Hambly said that Parks will just be used as a setter? From watching her, I actually think she seems the most natural hitter of all our potential opposites. Granted, the jump to college will present new challenges, but she is quite good hitting from the right side. There is always the possibility of her playing in a 6-2, playing all around. No, not exactly, but he did mention the athleticism and the 6-2. IMO Kevin doesn't really want to run a 6-2, but he's got a good problem with the crazy athleticism of Harvey and Parks. If I was a coach I would want these two great athletes on the floor in all six rotations, but there are other mouths to feed so to speak. Realize also that Parks is only 5'11" which is really small for a collegiate OPP. Its less about the hitting and more about the blocking. With Taylor Yu also being a very good setter with a very high volleyball IQ, the 6-2 will likely be deployed experimentally next August in training camp and possibly tried in some early matches. It's probably worth mentioning that the hitters I listed above at their respective positions could be fluid. That is, I could see Blyashov playing OPP and Harvey slotted on the left because she is such a dynamic hitter there. Or, Kurt could stay on the left side and switch with Blyashov. Obviously, Harvey has been training on the right side and playing there this season and Kurt has played RS for Fenerbache, so Stanford "watchers" think the lineup above would end up being the "real" 6-2 lineup.

Announcer for the Texas HS state tourney just said Joy U is a Stanford commit. She’s been hitting some missiles this year!

Announcer for the Texas HS state tourney just said Joy U is a Stanford commit. She’s been hitting some missiles this year! That means she must be committed to the Stanford academic requirements for athletes. I assume she's a very good student. She has a heavy arm and by all appearances very good leg strength, which means with the right type of weight and speed training she can add several inches to her vertical lift. I've seen video of her hitting rockets, but don't know much about her ability to play 6-ro, passing, floor D, blocking etc. But she does seem to fit the mold of highly athletic recruits that Stanford seems to be pursuing.

I have to say (granted it’s high school) her passing/defense has completely improved from last year. She’s been the best passer on her team against Gaido’s tonight and her defense has been on. I’m hoping she’s less of a project than we initially thought!

Ella Andrews should be 1st team but it's rare for juniors to on the 1st team like Hickman. Etzler should be higher also, but HS AAs are primarily there for offensive prowess.

I wonder why Kaci Demaria didn't make the list? Reese Dunkle made the Honorable Mention list.

I think her high school coach has to be an AVCA member and submit her name. A lot of good players get left off bc of that.

Does anyone, have any idea, what has kept Blyashov off the court all season? It gives me Inky vibes.

she tore her ACL the summer before her senior season and had to sit out. Probably a blessing in disguise as idk if that team makes the FF let alone wins it all in 2016 without her

Oh Inky.
She’s one of those NCAA superstars that never got to play for the National Team (same with Logan Eggleston of Texas).

She just got better and better all year as she got her confidence back after the ACL rehab. So much fire and leadership too.
