Wow this is a HUGE pickup for the cards if indeed true. This puts them in a WHOLE different level than the rest of the country.

Gates would start at MB1 given her killer slide attack. Either Campbell or McClure will lose their front row spot, depending on whether Fitz plays MB or OPP.
I still think we need McClure to play 6 rotations for her passing alone. We will have enough offensive weapons (Plummer, Kipp, Fitz, Gates).

Yes - this doesn't shed any clarity on the Stanford lineup questions that have been bandied about - where Kipp fits in and how, or if, that impacts McClure or Fitz. But darned if it doesn't make them even scarier. As if Stanford didn't have a big enough lead on the field....

The only issue I see with having yet another player (and supposedly one who would start) with only 1 year of eligibility left is that there will be a TON of drop-off in 2020. Agreed. Not to mention, this causes even MORE competition for say Kipp, Fitzmorris, Mcclure etc, which isnt a bad thing per say, but I REALLY want to see mcclure on the court. She is sooooo good. If Gates to Stanford works out, then I would venture and say that its Kipp and McClure battling it out for the OH spot and Fitz stays right. Will be interesting to see how the lineup shakes out.... the competition and depth certainly would improve, but likely at the cost of key development for Vicini (perhaps Kipp too? but I can't imagine her sitting out tbh). 2020 would be interesting to say the least.... Just to put the depth chart into perspective: OH - Plummer, McClure (Honorable Mention AA), Kipp (IMO top player in 2019 and such a dynamic player for her height), Baird (also a top 5 recruit with a heavy arm), Berty, Keefe MB - Campbell, Gates, Vicini, possibly Kipp... imagine if Bowen stayed.... Opp- Fitz, possibly Kipp, Fidelak S- Gray, Xu Lib/DS- Hentz, Formico, Keefe, Wilson

If this materializes, practice is gonna be funnn. You can split the team into two fairly even squads and let 'em rip at each other.
Team A OH: Plummer OH: Keefe MB: Campbell MB: Vicini Opp: Fidelak S: Xu L: Hentz
Team B OH: McClure OH: Baird MB: Gates MB: Kipp Opp: Fitz S: Gray L: Formico

Look I know what you are thinking, that Stanford is the big dog and no one else can compete in 2019, but let's see how Hambly plays his Card in 2019 ...

Nice reference to The Farm.
Think this will increase the chances a player (or two) will redshirt next year?

Excuses for not playing the name game, but is everybody talking about Madeleine Gates at UCLA? I loved her game. BTW, she had 22 kills against Stanford in 2017. Not sure if Stanford is especially onerous, but grad school is not usually that taxing. It all depends on what you're doing and whether you're being helped or hindered by the faculty.

Well, she's apparently graduating undergrad a year early and did well enough to get into Stanford grad school, all while playing VB at UCLA.
