Last week, I watched game 1 of Stanford's home match against Colorado. They weren't dominant at all until the end. I seem to remember this pattern from many of their other matches. Of course, they could lose a few this year. Regardless of how good Kipp and the other recruits are, they have a major middle to replace, and maybe (just maybe) the PAC won't be as weak as they were last year. Anyway, to paraphrase Honey Roy Palmer, other teams could always get lucky. Stanford is lucky to have Gates for a year, but yeah, Alade's blocking won't be replaced. I'd expect their offense to be better with Gates and Kipp added to the mix, but it will probably take some time to gel. And also I'd expect their defense to be worse, but it'll be worse right away. So, agree, they may drop a match or two given the preseason schedule. I kind of think Texas at home may be the toughest one to win, but who knows. I also worry about the whole expectations-thing. There have been a lot of teams with similar favorite-expectations coming into seasons who didn't even make the final (though maybe most of them are named Nebraska?).

What’s her senior ace ranking? I’m not familiar with her. Nevertheless, congrats!

So does this mean Miner will be going elsewhere? Sounds like this one might be a walk on. I dont think Minor should be worried.

There are still only 12 scholarships in WVB. Easy to add them up

Decent hands and good block timing and technique, but shoulder low on right side attacks and probably not enough height to play OPP. This is just one short video and leaves out many details like ability to dig rockets, serve effectiveness, etc. We really need to see her play against taller opponents in a HS all-star game or more likely we just wait until her freshman year and first set of practices in August. My best guess is she slots as a 5-1 backup setter.

Former Stanford setter Lindsay Kagawa Colas is among AdWeek's most powerful women in sports (July 8th issue). Here's a shot of her mention:
