no way in hell cal will be 5th. *they return every other starter minus Cal's golden child Lloyd * have the top rated setter from the 09' class ready to fill in and *bring in one of the top recruiting classes. aint gonna happen. hey maybe being picked to finish 5th is a good omen for the bears though... look where they got this year! Dear gocalbears - I voted cal to finish 2nd this past season (only off by one)... Cal will not finish 2nd next year... maybe 4th I will make sure to save this quote for when the pac-12 ends next season

UW needs a culture change to exorcise the on/off performances which characterized the season past. Will graduation and an influx of new talent make a difference? Will the coaches hair get even greyer than grey?
Inconsistency is a killer and needs to be addressed for any kind of predictions regarding UWs future. I don't think the problem is with the coaching staff, can the players get it together?
For the first time in a while, the UW has a recruiting class that's very highly rated coming in to the season. Will the setting be up the job? A big questio mark.

UW will be in the mix for the national title again. Jenni Nogueras is ready to run the offense. Great front line talent with Bianca Rowland, Lauren Barfied, Amanda Gil, Kelcey Dunaway, Kylin Munoz plus those outstanding freshmen. Back row is solid and tested with Kelly Holford and Jenna Orlandi. Jim McLaughlin will have UW ready. Munoz needs to improve for this to be true. With Gil now able to play, do any UW fans think Jim will use Bianca or Kelcey on the right side and depending on how Munoz progresses either her with Vansant or Vansant and Ross on the left?

Keystone Kid said:" Im sorry but your comments on why USC played poorly in the FF are absurd, and baseless. I would say that USC vs Stanford showed tremendous character. Was Cal's performance in the final a lack of character? How about Texas? Or UW in the regional final, Stanfords? Im not arguing that USC may finish second, just that your rationale is ridiculous." Don't think saying USC can be inconsistent is baseless; based on years of observation. The tourney was a great example; USC played great in beating Stanford; I thought they won the match, not Stanford losing. Then in the semis USC just wasn't there; Cal just had to hold on and play solid vball and won easily, as opposed to Penn State, who looked great both matches. In their bay area trip this year first USC just came in and took it to Cal; Cal didn't play poorly but didn't have it to stick with USC; then two days later USC goes to Stanford and just gets swept out of the building; just anticipating that to happen a few times next year, where the Trojans don't show up, and there should be a core of 5 or 6 teams that can take advantage. If you think Cal put in an excellent effort at the Final Four and that's why USC went so tamely that's OK, but I don't. Of all teams in the Pac-10 this past season, USC was the most susceptible to the "fat and happy" syndrome. The two most notable examples were (1) beating Cal in Berkeley 3-1, then failing miserably in a 3-0 sweep the next night at Maples and (2) beating Stanford in the Regional Final 3-2, then getting swept by Cal 3-0 in the FF.

Colorado has definitely been dragging down the Big 12's power indeces the last few years! Wow, I didn't realize that most of the Colorado athletic programs were so bad. Here is an article reviewing 2010 for them: www.dailycamera.com/top-sports/ci_16977238

As you may have noticed, several posters are stuck in the "me too"/pile-it-on mentality without checking facts or doing homework- definitely a symptom of the entitlement mentality. Oh well, this is America

I doubt it. I expect he will use his best two middles at middle, which may mean Dunaway remains a serving specialist and Barfield may be struggling for playing time at all. But it's possible that if Barfield continues to improve he may experiment with moving somebody to the outside.
