Skinner would be a tremendous get for the Gophers. I'd be curious to see if they interview Sheffield.
Not sure Fran and Jolene would want to leave the situations they're in.

Fran is from that location......and loves it! Jolene is surrounded by a grea Duke enviroment....why change? Shef is the right guy to me. He is involved very deeply in the area and knows how to go about it by being in Dayton. ESTRELLA

Has there been any discussion on Nelson at UNM? I think he is from up there.

There has been. He was also an assistant back in the Schleuder days.

Nelson and Skinner are both attractive candidates for the Minnesota job. I think they are similar in how they operate. Gopher fans would enjoy both coaches.

I understand that tOSU coach may not be the top candidate. I don't even think he's received a phone call from the University yet.

What is probability % of correctness as to your statement / your source? It is my understanding they have had no contact with OSU coach, which is very interesting. He is qualified, he has ties, he has the support of HOF coach who just retired....

Maybe MN is going through any / all other interested candidates, for comparison purposes and then make Geoff the offer?

21 pages of he said she said - can someone explain the "my understandings", "I understand", "I heard" etc....... You have to consider the source. Certain people on here are very accurate sources. In most cases they dont want to share who the source was. When some people say " I hear" it means nothing, others you can have confidence it has some validity. You decide.

Ah mi amigo jt.( and the main stat guy)My wife who was also my setter differs with you.K says the PAID attendance ( )was less than 400 in several games..we could count fans and hear a pin drop during the early days.If not for parents and us faithful there would have been nada. I was hoping your stat sheet maybe would reveal that to be correct.I am only quoting a source when I typed that link..its their 4 game sweep not mine. Purely by chance, I happened on one of my two (two? why do I have two copies?) 1997 VB Media Guide. In it is the summary of matches in 1996. 1996 Gopher VB Home matches and attendance: - 9/13 - GA Tech (Diet Coke Classic) -- 1,325
- 9/14 - Marshall, Arkansas (D.Coke) -- 975
- 9/27 - Penn State -- 1,351
- 9/28 - Ohio State -- 1,311
- 10/9 - Wisconsin -- 1,299
- 10/18 - Indiana -- 2,124
- 10/19 - Purdue -- 2,099
- 11/1 - Illinois -- 3,514
- 11/2 - Iowa -- 1,825
- 11/6 - Wisconsin -- 1,428
- 11/8 - Michigan -- 2,186
- 11/22 - Northwestern -- 2,766
- 11/23 - Michigan State -- 2,569
- 12/4 - Central Florida -- 2,012
Note that: 1) Michigan was the odd team, and we were partnered w/ Wisconsin 2) One of the "Wisconsin" matches was away, but there's a typo in the book, and they're both listed as home matches 3) The final match was the first round of the NCAA 48(?) team tournament. Yes, he was. But "ranked #6 at the time" doesn't really reflect just what the Gophers were like that year. I was at every single match that season -- home and away. And what has he done in the years since then? Joel doesn't like me, ever since I let his newspaper sit in the puddles when I delivered to him back in the 70s. (Yes, I actually was his paperboy back then.)

That's called doing your research JT - this thread is getting ridiculous because of the hissy fight back and forth.
Nelson would be a good candidate who hasn't been mentioned before.

Skinner would be a tremendous get for the Gophers. I'd be curious to see if they interview Sheffield. And Skinner comes from the volleyball cradle of coaches - Ball State. What is Sheffield's background other than Dayton and UAlbany? Is he a midwest guy?
