Heck of a lot more money in DI, however. That has to make it tempting. Heck of a lot more headaches, too!

Its a" coach of a lifetime" for almost any coach outside the top 4 schools.
It better be a smart pick or Jts seats wont be worth $ 5.

Heck of a lot more money in DI, however. That has to make it tempting. Sometimes it's not about the money or the fact that it's DI. Sometimes it's about balance and quality of life. It's often more important to enjoy the time you have with your family while you still can, while still supporting them by doing what you love. Spending "10 days in The Show" isn't always what it's cracked up to be and "the grass isn't always greener" on the DI side.

Point was that it has to be tempting, not that it's a no-brainer.
I, for instance, have chosen to be an assistant coach on a 12s team, rather than pursue DI opportunities. Was I tempted? Sure.

ouch - that's a pretty close shot to Paula, since her team didn't do well w/o her on the helm for much at UCI this year. Do you actually attribute all of that to her? If you're asking me, no, I don't. I don't either!

Actually (R)uffda!, though I quoted your post, mine was just as much a response to what NotKingOfAnything had posted on the previous page as anything else. Plus, the growing talk (mainly on the Jobs thread) about why such-n-such should (or did) take this job. Case in point, I remember when people were "up in arms" about Salima Rockwell-Davidson leaving Penn St for Texas and all the talk of "Why would she ever do that?" The fact was it was a move that was best for her family and added some things to her quality of life that she didn't have at Penn St. It's also a reminder that people never really know what motivates someone to make a move unless they know them on an intimate basis and even then it's still not a given that those people will truly understand. So while I quoted your post (R)uffda!, my post wasn't really directed at you. Good luck with your 12's team and 'good for you' for doing it!

Sometimes we tend to forget the human element to the decision-making process.

If those whispers are true there will be a lot of sad players and fans in Ames.
