(R)uffda isn't the regular poster that we think he is. Or, he wasn't. I know exactly who he is, and was.

It appears the Dread Pirate Roberts accusations have become more frequent on VT lately.

(R)uffda isn't the regular poster that we think he is. Or, he wasn't. I know exactly who he is, and was. A lesson in humility is best served with self inspection and thought. Making a point ..although valid as it may be is not worth the pain it may cause to others and yourself. Sometimes it is best to take a big breath ..hold it.. release it ..and view the joys in life rather than deal with the harshness we sometimes immerse ourselves into. The sun will still rise..still set ..and the game will be played. With or without us. From one who as been there.

Ruffda obviously feels pretty strongly about this issue. I hope that another way to express his displeasure can be found. VT would be poorer for his leaving. I sure hope he reconsiders and continues to share his knowledge and humor with us.

Having been involved in Internet discussion groups, usenet, etc since the dawn of time, I've found it helpful to step away every once in a while, particularly when things start to get "too much" and personal/professional relationships suffer either as a direct result of postings or as a secondary effect. As Bill stated, taking a big breath helps a lot. I don't know anything about (R)! or his situation, but I do hope he comes back when he feels ready, as his knowledge of the game and UMN in particular combined with a healthy dose of humor is one of the reasons I visit this forum. In the meantime... Hugh or Brady? and when?

It appears Ruffda is really upset about college coaches posting under multiple names, badmouthing other coaches. First off, there is no grounds for slander etc.... on any of those posts. Secondly it appears he or others as moderators have the ability to identify people through ip addresses. I dont believe he should threaten to out people here, because he doesnt like what they post. It is a chat room, blog, whatever, and that is precisely what happens. Lastly, I havent read anything written on here about the former asst that even comes close to being as bad as what is said about other coaches/people. Obviously this is very personal to him, and if it upsets him to that degree leaving the site is in his best interest. He is a good guy, and a credible poster.

If I'm not mistaken, threatening to "out" posters is expressly prohibited, and that should extend to anyone. I've seen posts erased just for joking who a poster might really be.

I hope (R)uffda! returns. How do we know he's not here under another name? I heard coaches do that... Finally, something worth looking at this thread for!
