Delano Thomas, Kimo Tuyay, and Tony Ching will play in the World University Games in August. Zimet will also tryout for the USA National Team at libero, as will Vernon Podlewski.
Happily surprised with Tuyay and Ching.

Is there an announcement somewhere? Where can we see who else is on the team?

The three Warriors have been invited. I don't think they are on the team yet. That just seems to be too many players from one school, to be representing the US at the World University Games. There are just too many good players across the Country, to have three players from Hawaii. Bookumdanoaloha.

It's good to see that Kimo gets regonized by the REAL people, who know volleyball.
Has anybody noticed he hasn't got pulled from a game lately?
Has anybody noticed that the Warriors have won seven straight?
Uhmmmm.

Other than these UHers, and Andy Hein from Pepp (an earlier post)... what other MPSFers will be joining the University games?

I would expect Sean Rooney, Brad Keenan, and Curt Toppell to be invited as well. Maybe Jeff Ptak, Jim Pelzel, Joe Nargi, Scott Touzinsky, Jeff Wootton, or Tyler Hildebrand, BYU players? I don't know! All good players!! They will invite 18-25 players to come out to Colorado Springs and train and then cut the team down to 12 later. As far as so many from one team - if your team is playing as well as UH and Pepp, they probably have a lot of talent and it would make sense for quite a few of them to be invited to play for the USA. In 2001, the year they won the gold medal, Dave McKienzie, Jim Polster, and Chris Seiffert all started for the USA and all were from LBSU - and no, there were no LBSU coaches involved with the team.

Did someone just say ANdy Hein was invited??? If he is, that is ridiculous. No way he is good enough for this years team. Two years from now I can see it. They are many more good middles out there to make it over him. Anway, when are they gonna post the invitees??

i think that keenan, toppel and rooney will try-out for the national team...just because these players are invited to the University games does not mean they will be on the team they are invited to try-out for the team...although kimo is a great setter i think that beau daniels is a much better setter than him and would be a better selection...Andy Hein is a good young middle that has more potential than most any other thats why he would be invited...

Just because someone has potential, doesn't mean they should be on the team. WHy would you wanna send people with potential to the University games? I would rather try to win than to give people experience. Let him wait his turn. He isn't good enough, YET.
