Just wanted to say this was from the Star Bulletin and no, I don't have any inside info.
I'm also not sure if it meant they ARE going to play for sure or if they are just going to try out. I bet Thomas has a spot no doubt. Tuyay and Ching have their possibilities.
I think Ching is explosive and dynamic as any hitter in the country with his 40 inch vertical. But being a 6'1 hitter won't get you many looks internationally. Maybe libero...
As for Tuyay, we shall see. He has all the tools and potential to play for the National Team. But I doubt he is ready. Not right now. He must work on coming to play everyday. Like a poster said, he's doing that.

I agree that Delano Thomas should make it indefinately because didn't he play for the US in the university games last year?
I think Tony Ching and Kimo Tuyay have a small chance at making it. The thing that will hurt Tony Ching is his consistency. He hasn't been doing to good until lately after starting the season off on fire. If he can keep up his hot streak and stay consistent with it I think he has a good chance at making it.
The same thing goes for Kimo Tuyay. Like how another poster said that Hawai`i has won seven in a row with Kimo not being pulled. Honestly, Kimo really hasn't been pulled a lot this year so he has been there when they lost and they won. So it's his off and on nights that are going to hurt him as well. But I agree that with him setting good now has really helped the Warriors win their last seven matches as well.
We just gotta hope for the best for our young athletes here. Good luck to Ching, Tuyay, and Thomas as well as Eyal and Vernon who will be trying out for the national team.

I agree that Delano Thomas should make it indefinately because didn't he play for the US in the university games last year? Delano played for the Junior National Team last summer. All the best country's teams have some younger players. They have a couple of their best potential 18-19 yr old players in their WUG teams. The US National team wants to start developing players at younger ages too. A 19 year old can accelerate his learning curve by playing and practicing against 21-26 year olds. They may or may not play in the actual games, but learning to play at a higher level earlier is the goal. We have to start doing this to keep up with the Joneses and to make the national team more competitive, IMO. I think we have to start working toward the long term investment, not just the immediate gratification, although there certainly IS a deep desire to do well in the WUGs again.
