The dunk contest was actually entertaining for once. Dunks were creative and not just run of the mill.
Jumping over the car was interesting. The two baskets were cool as was grabbing the stuffed toy in the teeth.

I find these boring. The dunk contests, the home run contests, etc. When there is no defense, who cares? If I just want to see creative leaping, the ballet does it better.

I agree with Mg.
Raise the basket to 12 feet then have a contest. ( start at regulation and move up..as in pole vaulting contest..) Jumping over a stationary object and hanging onto a rim is boring.
I say..let the car be moving at 25 mph..have the basket change heights .. and you cannot travel or hang on the rim.
I think the skills contest is better..Bring on the 4 pt shot..let it move as the game moves..( like changing hole locations in golf..)

IMO, 2011 NBA All Star Weekend was fantastic. Even more special when you have children to watch it with. No other pro sport's all star weekend comes close to the NBA. Agreed that this years dunk contest was great. Having younger players bring innovation to the contest was sure fun to watch. Kudos to the NBA!

I ignored it except for this temporary excursion into discussing it (which, for me, will end as soon as I hit "Post Reply").

I didn't get to watch any of it. Was Blake Griffith in the dunk contest?

I like the dunk contest for what it is, God given athletic talent. This year it was very creative which makes it better.
