BY JASON GENEGABUS / jason@staradvertiser.com Serious fans of award-winning artist Lauryn Hill — and those who may not have been able to make it to her set on Sunday at Aloha Tower — will get one more chance to see her perform this week in Honolulu. During the closing minutes of her concert at the Waterfront at Aloha Tower, Hill said she wasn’t through with our island just yet, telling those who had stuck around until the very end that she’d be at the Hard Rock Cafe Waikiki on Tuesday night. The “Moving Target” encore show won’t be like her first set; instead of playing her solo and Fugees hits as she did on Sunday, the Tuesday performance will be nothing but “classic material from Bob Marley and the Wailers.” In other words, we’ll be getting a two-hour show of nothing but Bob Marley covers. Only 300 tickets will be available for Tuesday’s concert, starting at 9 a.m. today at all Local Motion shops on Oahu and online at www.groovetickets.com. Cost is $65 each. Don’t want to spend the money? The idea of cramming into a Waikiki restaurant alongside 300 other screaming fans not your idea of a great time? Keep in mind that the Hard Rock Cafe is an open-air dining establishment, and there’s plenty of sidewalk space out front for those who may not be able to get in. So while you may not be able to actually see Hill from outside, you’ll definitely be able to hear what’s going on upstairs in the restaurant without even going in. ——— Jason Genegabus is former HILife Editor at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and has covered the local nightlife, music, bar and entertainment scenes since 2001. Tho, even as this post could probably 'fit' into another thread here with "favorite songs"... *Relatively 'new one' (of several on the www) from Lauryn. but realize that it's a long 8 min version...again for the fan. I do love me some Ms. Hill (admittedly).
