Irvine/UCSB and UCLA/Northridge results
Northridge is up 2 games to 1 and game #4 is tied 14-14...
Any word on the other game in Irvine?

What an ugly game. When did Santa Barbara become so terrible?
Bad night for UCI though, Kyle Weichert apparently sprained his ankle. Didn't look bad and he should be back for the last couple of games and playoffs, but that leaves UCI with exactly 2 middle blockers until he comes back.

What does this mean for UCI? With only 2 middles how will they fair against Northridge? Finally, how many matches does UCI need to win to make the playoffs, does anyone know?

UCI only needs to win one more match if UCLA only wins one more. They both should beat USC and I would expect UCLA to lose the rest, given their performance thus far, which would put UCI into the tournament.
UCI plays CSUN, Pepperdine, USC and UOP.
UCLA plays USC, Pepperdine, Stanford, and UOP.

I would use extreme caution when using words like "should" and "most likely" in the MPSF this season. I'm not sure there is going to be a magic number that will most definitely make the playoffs among the 5 teams still hoping to make the tournament.
USC is NOT a sure thing, as they have shown by beating good teams this year, and even UCSD has been playing well and taken games from good teams...

True, but the statement still stands that UCI just needs to win one more if UCLA only wins one more.
