Well, the last three seasons (including this one), Hawaii has been treated with three fantastic teams. The core of Theocharidis, Zimet, and Ching have seen it all during their years and have really set the bar for Hawaii higher. It will feel totally different without the three senior hitters and Plastic Wrap. They really have added something intagible to the program. They'll be missed.
Which leads me to this: Where would you think Hawaii stands next year? Thomas, Tuyay, and Muise are the only returning starters, but players like Azenha, Delgado, Stanhiser, Motter, and Bender will be able to show us what they've got. I think Hawaii SHOULD have a good enought team to be in the top 8. Azenha, Delgado, and Stanhiser have shown they can play and have all started matches. Bender and Motter should also be ready to take bigger roles. There is still loads of talent...but inexperiance and depth may be big questions next season.
Thoughts?

Considering next year's team has been practicing against this year's starting team all season could help them greatly for next season when the likes of Theocharidis, Zimet, and Ching leave. At least this is what I think.

I don't expect Hawaii to compete for the NCAA title next year, but I do expect them to finish in the top 10. The big question will be the passing. Muise and Motter have some decent passing skills but Ching, Zimet, and Costas all scrap for the ball on defense and provide some consistent passing. If anything, that might be Hawaii's biggest weakness.

UH needs another solid middle blocker to have success next year. Stanheiser is decent, but he is unexperienced, is slow closing blocks, and just doesn't look like a volleyball player out on the floor. If he makes drastic improvements from now until next year he could be on the floor. Other than that the team looks like they should be pretty decent. There will be three new outside hitters starting and that will be a pretty drastic change. Passing and blocking will be key. Thomas also continues to get better, and by next year should be a dominating force. I am curious to see how Delgado is progressing, he was good last year but inconsistent at times. Azenha should be the go to outside hitter. Tuyay will be a staple at setter. Opposite is pretty much up for grabs. Compared to the other teams in the nation I think Hawaii will hover in the 5-7 ranks. A lot of teams are young this year and they will be hard to beat next year.
